Jack(Coach Hop) and family,
Sorry for the loss of your father. I know how much he influenced you and how much he was a huge part of your life. It's been 25 years since you've coached me at Rutgers but in one year you had such a profound impact on my life that I know the lessons you taught me about being a man and a competitor were passed down from your father. I hope you and your family find solace knowing all the good he gave this world and that he is resting in peace.
Sincere Condolences,
Doug Stefano

My sincerest condolences to the Hopkins family. I worked with Hop for a lot of years & he taught me so much for which I am eternally grateful. What a detailed, record keeping nut! On a personal side, he once offered to watch our lab , Tara, once when my family & I were going on vacation. Wasn't sure what to do about Tara as I wasn't keen about leaving her at a kennel. Hop offered to take her for the week. Upon our return from vacation I wasn't sure Tara wanted to return. She had more fun on her vacation with Hop than we had on our trip to Disneyworld. Not only that, Hop took more pictures of Tara in the woods , in the lake, dragging tree branches through the woods etc., than I had taken of the kids in Disneyworld & he gave us a photo collection of Tara's vacation. He was a great evaluator of talent professionally, a great teacher both professionally & personally & an all around good guy. I have lots of Hoppy stories. He was that kind of guy. I sure hope they have dogs & baseball in Heaven.

I am so sorry to hear of 'Hops' passing, we used to be dog walking pals. I am sure he is strolling through the heavenly gates and Yogi is right by his side. What a great character, with such a winning smile. (as long as you didn't disparage his Fight'en Phils!)
My sincere sympathy to his wife and children. I will keep all of you in my prayers.
