Obituary of Helen F Kirschner

Helen F. Kirschner (nee Punk), 82 of Glassboro, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, November 3, 2018.

Legacy

Helen brought love and laughter to all who knew her. She was born in Philadelphia, PA and was raised in Haddonfield, NJ. During her 46-year marriage to her husband John, Helen always put family first. After working as an operator for AT&T, she became a devoted homemaker and raised 5 children in South Philadelphia and then in Brooklawn, NJ. She would eventually join the staff of Alice Costello Elementary School as a Food Service Coordinator, where she proudly became a caring and comforting presence for thousands of local school children for 25 years.

Helen also shared her lifelong passion for music with everyone. She played organ for St. Maurice Parish in Brooklawn, as well as providing piano accompaniment for the student choruses and ensembles preforming in Alice Costello Elementary School’s annual Spring and Winter concerts for many years. Her musical talents were also put on display performing as a singer for the Gloucester City Community Choir for 20 years. In her retirement, Helen continued to keep active with frequent trips to the theatre and the casinos. She additionally served as a member of the Red Hat Society chapter “The Ruby Tuesday’s”.

Family

She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Kirschner, Sr. Devoted mother of John J. Kirschner, Jr. (Doris), Patricia Kirschner (Nabil Mohmod), the late Daniel Kirschner (Joanne), Raymond Kirschner (Erica), and Leo Kirschner (Joanne). Treasured grandmother of Kristina, Karen, Kevin, Kyle, Jimmy, Joe (Jenn), Jenai, Jehahn, Kayla, the late Daniel, Zachary, Jeremy, Alexander, Benjamin and Samuel. Proud great-grandmother of Jonathan, Luke and Brian. She will be missed by many members of her extended family and dear friends.

Farewell Tribute

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Monday, November 12th from 8:45AM to 9:45AM at St. Joachim Parish – Annunciation RC Church, 601 West Browning Rd., Bellmawr, NJ. Funeral Mass at 10:00AM. Interment to follow at New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr, NJ.
