Obituary of Ortha Wright

Ortha Wright, 87, of West Deptford, NJ, formerly of Canandaigua, NY, passed away suddenly on January 12, 2019. 

Legacy

Ortha was born in Canandaigua, NY to Walter Tompkins and Rachel Bates. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1949 in Rochester, NY. Ortha was a long term tenant in Bloomfield Meadows, NY, where she could be found with her friends playing cards in the afternoon.  She proudly served in the U.S Army during the Korean War from 1949 to 1951. She retired in 1988 from the VA hospital in Canandaigua, NY where she worked as an Administrative Assistant. Ortha volunteered at the Woodbury Library for many years. She recently moved to New Jersey to with her daughter, where she enjoyed the Evergreen Court Day Care Program.

Family

She was predeceased by her sisters; Marian Harrington and Phyllis Watson. Ortha is survived by her children, William Wright of West Deptford, Linda Victor of West Deptford, and Michael Wright (Deborah) of Canandaigua, NY. She is also survived by her 4 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
