Dear Janet and Family,
I am so heartbroken to learn about Joe's passing...We may have never met in person, but I knew Joe very well - we trained together at Yi's Martial Arts for the past ~27 years - he actually taught me my last Hyung - something that is very sacred to me and something I will always cherish. I live in California now but one of the things I always looked forward to was coming back to NJ and training with him. It saddens me deeply that I will not get that chance again.
My heart goes out to you and your family - Master Monaghan was a very special type of person - the kind with so much kindness and honor that he occupies a special place in the hearts of those whose lives he has touched, even briefly. He will be sorely missed and always remembered as one of the kindest, most capable, most respectable men I have ever had the honor of knowing.
With the most heartfelt sympathies,
AJ and Valerie Woodburn

Beautifully Written in his Memory❤️
All of Us are So Saddend during this difficult Time ~ Praying for All of You!
Hoping the Love & Comfort that Surrounds You fills a piece of your broken Heart. Will always remember Papa Joe for his witty Jokes, wearing a Smile on his face and a baseball hat... of course. He fought like the Warrior he Trained to be throughout his entire life.
He will Forever be Your ‘Guardian Angel’ looking out for All of You... Just as he did here, only from a different View ~ guiding you all along.
With Sympathy & Love,
Anne & Family
XOXO

Master Monaghan was a wonderful father, an amazing martial artist and a great friend. I will always remember the time, dedication and commitment which he provided to all of us at Yi's Karate, especially those early morning Saturday classes which he loved to teach.
Rest now Sah Bum Nim, your memories and instruction will live on in all of your friends and family forever.
