Obituary of Robert Kenneth Coates

Robert Kenneth Coates, 89, of Sewell, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 25, 2019. 

Legacy

Robert was born and raised in Queens, NY. He was a talented artist, who had a passion for painting. Robert was also a baseball and motorcycle enthusiast. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and telling them stories from his many adventures. He loved the ocean, listening to jazz, and getting dressed up to go out for dinner or to enjoy a martini during happy hour. Robert was also an avid reader and collector. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Seabee and during the Korean Conflict in the United States Air Force. He had a 36 year career with United Airlines. Robert will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family

He is the beloved husband of 67 years to Joan (nee Bennett); devoted father of Robert L. Coates (Tim), Glenn J. Coates (Lynne), Christine Bechtelheimer (Paul); loving grandfather of Christine Coates, Matthew Coates, and Paul Bechtelheimer.

Farewell Tribute

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM in the McGuinness Funeral Home – 573 Egg Harbor Rd, Sewell 08080. Military Honors will follow.
