Obituary of Joan M. McCarthy

Joan M. McCarthy, of Monroeville, formerly of the Oak valley section of Deptford, passed away on March 14, 2019. Joan was aged 89 years

Legacy
A loving wife, mother grandmother, great grandmother and friend is the legacy that Joan leaves behind. Born and raised in New York; Joan moved to Philadelphia in 1952. She met and married a man by the name of Thomas McCarthy and together they shared 40 years of marriage and raised four children before Tom passed away in 1994.

Joan loved working with people in a service capacity. When her children were attending St. Margaret's School; Joan worked as the school secretary. Later, She worked for Underwood Memorial Hospital for more than 20 years in the Medical Billing Department and Joan spent the final five years of her work life as an Administrative Assistant for McGuinness Funeral Home in Washington Twp.

Away from her work, Joan enjoyed reading and spending time with her family in Cape May and WIldwood creating memories that they will now cherish as her legacy.

Joan is the beloved wife of the late Thomas D. McCarthy; loving mother of Alice (Vincent) Kennedy, Thomas (Barbara) McCarthy, Kevin (Cindy) McCarthy and Joanne McCarthy; dear sister of Charles Brogan and the late Marion Quigley; grandmother of 7; great grandmother of 8.

Farewell Tribute
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Joan's viewing on Wednesday evening 5:30-8 PM in the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury and Thursday morning 9:00-9:45 in Infant Jesus Parish at St. Margaret R. C. Church, Third & Beech Avenue, Woodbury Heights; where her Funeral Mass will follow at 10 AM. Interment Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St. VIncent DePaul Society at Infant Jesus Parish, 334 Beech Avenue, WOodbury Heights, NJ 08097.
