Obituary of Joan C. Marley

Joan C. Marley, age 88, of Westville, NJ died peacefully in the comfort of her home on April 12th, 2019.

She is the beloved wife of the late James A. Marley. Cherished daughter of John and Catherine Brown (nee O’Keefe). Unconditional loving mother to James A. Marley, Jr. (Nancy), John Marley (Donna), Joan Matthews (the late Mike), Mary Marley, and Cathy Buchanan. Predeceased by beloved son Timothy Marley. She was a devoted Grandmom to her “Apple Dumplings” Sarah, Katie, Rita, Rachel, Samantha, Marcy, Rebecca, Molly, Dennis, Debbie, and Lisa; Treasured great-grandmother and great-great grandmother.

Joan was a graduate from Woodrow Wilson High School where she was nicknamed “Brownie”. She started her career at New Jersey Bell Telephone Company. She was then employed as a postal worker for 25 years. Joan was happiest when going to the hair dressers with her best friend Betty, taking trips to the casinos in Atlantic City, and having a nice good book to read (with a cigarette and Diet Pepsi on the side.) She was a selfless and generous woman who never had a bad thing to say about anyone. Her laugh was contagious and will be remembered forever by all who knew her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at 10:00AM in the Holy Angels Parish at Saint Patrick’s Church, 64 Cooper Street, Woodbury, NJ 08096. Funeral mass will follow at 11:00AM.  Interment will take place after Mass at New St. Mary's Cemetery, Browing Road, Bellmawr, NJ 08031
