Obituary of David F. Savage
DAVE SAVAGE (1941-2019)
Barrington- Dave Savage passed away at home peacefully, surrounded by family, on June 26, 2019 after a long illness. He was 77.
Legacy- Dave grew up in Deptford, New Jersey with three brothers and a sister. As a boy, he enjoyed growing up on his parent’s farm and tending to the goats. As a young adult, he was a hairdresser and managed several salons. He hung up his scissors for workboots and eventually he started his own business as a contractor, specializing in aluminum siding. He was gratified to share his trade with his beloved brothers and nephews. Before retiring, he was a custodian for Haddon Heights Schools.
Dave loved the outdoors, and enjoyed camping, fishing, kayaking and hunting. He planned annual camping trips at Parvin and Atsion with family and friends. He especially looked forward to annual hunting trips with his brothers and nephews in Muncie Valley, Pennsylvania. He enjoyed target practice at the shooting range. He was an avid antique collector, especially guns, watches, knives, artwork. He restored Volkswagen Beetles. He was an excellent singer, especially Sinatra and Nat King Cole. He was an amazing whistler. He was a firm believer in making things better than you find them, whether repairing a house or making a bed. Dave was happiest spending time with his grandchildren.
Family- He is the beloved husband of Janis Savage (nee Capacchione) for 45 years. Devoted father of Michael, Bonnie Savage-Rapposelli (Raymond), pre-deceased by his beloved eldest daughter Colleen. Loving grandfather of Randy Rapposelli, Raymond Angelo Rapposelli (Gabrielle), Rose Rapposelli, Romeo Rapposelli, Julianne Savage and Elaina Savage. Dave is also survived by his brother-in-law and dear friend, Anthony Capacchione, as well as brother Richard, sister Roseann Tenerelli and many beloved nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by brothers Edward and Roland.
Farewell tribute- Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Saturday, July 13, 2019 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at St. John Vianney Church- Infant Jesus Parish, 2901 Good Intent Rd., Deptford, N.J. 08096. Mass will be held at the church at 11:00 am. Internment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Dave’s name to National Wildlife Federation or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
