Obituary of John Callaghan, Sr.

John W. Callaghan, Sr. of Westville, New Jersey, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 with his loving family by his side.  He was 80 years old.

Legacy
John was raised in Westville and graduated from Gloucester Catholic High School.  Loyalty was paramount for John throughout various facets of his life.  He met and married Marie Flood; shared 59 great years of marriage and raised five children that they adored. As for his work life, John worked as a Sheet Metal Worker with Local 19 of the Sheet Metal Workers Union, Philadelphia for more than 40 years until his retirement in 2001. 

Away from his work, John will be remembered as "Mr.Fix it" and no job was too large for him to work on.  John enjoyed hunting, fishing and would take his loving wife into his arms for a slow dance whenever they would get to enjoy the big band sound of the Bonsall Blues.  Most of all, John will be fondly remembered as a great father who enjoyed the company of his family creating memories that they will cherish as his legacy.

John is the beloved husband of Marie (nee Flood); devoted father of Kathleen McKegney (Jerry), John W. Callaghan, Jr (Ruthann), Steven Callaghan (Paulette), Paul & Christopher Callaghan; loving grandfather of Christina, Erin, John, Elizabeth & Ethan; dear brother of Richard Callaghan (Sue) & Joan Haney. 

Farewell Tribute
Relatives and friends are invited to attend John's viewing on Wednesday 9:30-10:15 AM in St. Mary's R. C. Church, 426 Monmouth Street, Gloucester, NJ 08030 where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM.  Interment New Saint Mary's Cemetery, Bellmawr. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's R. C. Church at the above address.  Arrangements are under the direction of the McGUINNESS FUNERAL HOME, Woodbury & Washington Twp.
