Obituary of Louis Sarlo

Sarlo, Louis Lou Jr., Aged 92 years, of Clarksboro passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2008 surrounded by his family. A man who truly lived an American Dream, Louis was a hardworking man who loved his family. Born in the Westville Grove section of Deptford, he has been a resident of Clarksboro for the past 43 years. He went to work for the Ruberoid Company as a young man. He started out as a laborer and retired 48 years later as the General Manager of five paper mills around the country. He and his brother Charles deceased also ran a successful trucking business in Gloucester City. When he retired from GAF Ruberoid, he started a specialty paper company that manufactures building products and was the president up until the time of his death. He was a member and past president of the Gloucester City Rotary Club and Gloucester City's first Paul Harris Fellow. He was also very active with the Gloucester City Interact Club. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and deep sea fishing. In his later years, gardening and tending to his tomato crop were his passion. His family was always first and foremost to him and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Beloved husband of 69 years to Ruth nee Thomas; devoted father of Judith Uricher and husband William, Louis III and his wife Cheryl and the late Michele Seddon; proud grandfather of William Uricher, Jr., Amy Davis, Thomas D. Seddon, Jr., Christopher Uricher, Matthew Seddon, Louis Sarlo IV, and Sam Sarlo, proud great grandfather of 8; dear brother of Carmen "Sonny" Sarlo, Gloria Rossiter and Hazel Palese. Viewing Tues. 9-11 AM in McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter St., Woodbury, where funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro.
