Obituary of Douglas I. McFeeters
Douglas I. McFeeters, J.D., Major, USAF Retired of Washington Twp., NJ, born January 30, 1951 and passed away Sunday, May 18, 2008 due to complications of acute Leukemia. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dianne nee Petrolino and three loving children, Cheryl Belloff Tobias, Greg Gulizzi and Gavin as well as his three grandchildren; Lauren, Andrew and Brendon Belloff. He is also survived by his sister, Glenda McFeeters, who lovingly donated cells for his transplant. He is predeceased by both parents, John and Mary McFeeters of Weehawkin, NJ.
Mr. McFeeters received his Bachelor's degree from Montclair State University, a Master's degree from the University of Oklahoma, and MBA from Eastern University and his Juris Doctor from Rutgers University at the age of 54. He was admitted to the NJ Bar in 2007.
Major McFeeters distinguished himself as a career officer in the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country as a Criminal Investigator for the Air Force Office of Special Investigations and setting a standard of excellence for future agents throughout his career. After retiring from the Air Force, Mr. McFeeters accepted a position with Boeing Corp. in Philadelphia, PA. At the time of his death he was employed with the US Attorney's Office in Wilmington, DE. Mr. McFeeters was awarded the Law Enforcement Public Service Award by the US Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of VA for his role in the trial of Zacarius Mossaoui, the only person convicted in the 9/11 tragedy.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation 4-7:45 PM and Lifetime Tribute 8 PM Saturday in the McGuinness Funeral Home, 573 Egg Harbor Rd., Washington Twp. Sewell, NJ 800-993-0888. A second visitation 4-7:45 PM and Lifetime Tribute 8 PM Sunday in the Hunt-Stellato Funeral Home, 1601 Palisade Ave., Fort Lee, NJ 201-944-1202. Interment with military honors will be private at the Gloucester County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, Mr. McFeeter's family respectfully requests that blood donations be made to the Red Cross. Mr. McFeeters was given numerous blood products during his two year illness and felt that giving blood would be a more appropriate way to honor his memory.
The family would like to extend its deepest gratitude to the entire staff of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Douglas received exceptional care and attention throughout his illness, particularly during his last weeks. In addition to the care given to our loved one, the staff understood and cared for the needs of his family.
