Mia and I used to sing in the North Baptist Youth Choir in North Woodbury, NJ. I was her big sister and she followed my footsteps per say. I went to college first in 1992 and she followed after she graduated high school. We did church activities together with Ms. Pat, our youth director. I later went into the army and everytime I came home, we just happened to run into each other. The last thing we did together was sing at North Baptist's Pastor's Anniversary that was held to the Woodbury Golf Club. Everyone said that we reminded them of the old youth choir! It was fun. One other memory is when both of us had solos in the Youth Revolution for Christ, which was long ago. We sounded great. Mia, I will truly miss you. I regret not being in NJ to say goodbye to you one last time. I am serving my country in GA. I know that you are now in heaven, singing for the lord, and I know that you will be an angel looking out for me. I love you and I will miss you my sister! God bless you and your family!

I went to school with Mia all the way through high school. Like everyone else, I will never forget the chills I got anytime I heard Mia sing. Mia also had a powerful throwing arm and could hurl a discus in a way that would make you run the other way. I will always remember her spirit, humor and kindness.
To Mia's family, I am so sorry for your loss. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

I went to WHS with Mia...she and I were on the color gaurd together. She always had a smile on her face, a kind word to say and a hug that would cheer anyone up.
My deepest heartfelt sympathy goes out to her family and friends.
There's an open gate at the end of the road through which each must go alone, and there, in a light we cannot see, Our Father claims His own...beyond the gate your loved one finds happiness and rest. And there is comfort in the thought that a loving God knows best.

It's okay to cry, at times the pain seems more than you can bear. The question now may be why? The loss of one so dear. I wish with one word I could take your pain away, but because I know you trust HIM, there will be a brighter day. For now Mia's at rest, this life's story no more to unfold, but where Mia is resting, there are Loving Arms that hold. One day soon you'll see her and you'll caress her face, this time you won't leave her side, you'll be in an everlasting place. To Mia's family with Much Love, and prayers, I remain His servant.

Dearest Lynn and Bea,
Our hearts are truly connected to yours and we would love to be there with you now. When we first learned that Mia had gone home to be with the Lord, we were sad -- and I guess we still are because we are thinking of our personal loss. But ultimately, this is what we are working for and Mia just beat us running! She was a beautiful and gifted person with a lot of love. She certainly made an impression on our lives. Although Mia's leaving has taken some of the light out of our lives, God has promised never to leave us nor forsake us. So we must continue to walk by faith and not by sight, having the knowledge that one day we'll all meet again. We hope that it helps to know that you have family that loves and cares for you. We're praying, too.

To the Whitehead family,
On behalf of the Bethlehem Church family,
We share in your sorrow in the passing of Sis. Mia L. Whitehead.
She was a godly young woman who walked with Christ,
and was a true worshipper who was filled with the Holy Spirit.
She made melody in her heart and allowed us to eavesdrop as she sang
hymns, psalms and spiritual songs unto the Lord.
She sang along with the BBC Reunion Choir this past November
And now sings with the host of the redeemed in the presence of God.
She will be missed, but we know we will see her again in glory.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family now and in the days to come.
Sincerely,
Pastor and Sister Winborne

My deepest sympathy to Sister Bea and the Whitehead Family at this time of sorrow. I have fond memories of Sister Mia. She was a beautiful Christian Lady, who loved and served God with her all and all. She never said "no" when asked to participate. During my tenure as District Superintendent of the Gloucester and Salem Counties Congress of Christian Education for 4 years, she served with her talents, and sang at my Annual Sessions. I can only comfort you with the Word of God: Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the Morning, Psalm 30:5. I will miss her, but she will live forever in my heart. My prayers are with you. Bea,
For to understand gods greatness and to use his gifts each day the soul must learn to meet him in a meditative way , for our farther tells his children that if they would know his will they must seek him the silence when all is calm and still, for natures greatest forces are found in quiet things like softly falling snowflakes drifting down on angels wings,or petals dropping soundlessly from a lovely fully-blown rose. So god comes closest to us when our souls are right with him. He comes and takes us silently home with him to relieve us of our pains here on this earth. May you forever be rememberd by your friends and loved ones.

But Mia's voice was ALWAYS the shining star, taking it to the next level.

I graduated High School with Mia. I am still in shock over her passing. So many great memories are flooding back to me. She was always a loving, open, beatiful and funny person. We could goof around one minute and talk about serious things the next. She was a truly great friend. I wish we had seen each other more recently. I am glad she is now with the Lord, but she will be sadly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with Mia's family. Mia you still bring a huge smile to my face and I can hear you singing your beautiful music. Love ya.

Mia went to high school with my big sister Anne Quinn, they were on the WHS cheerleading squad together. It was during my time as part of the WHS cheerleading squad that I got to know Mia. She took me under her wing like she was my big sister as so many of the other girls did. She was always the first one there for practice and the last one to leave. She would come to my games at the Steelers field with Anne to watch me cheer, and it was my time to cheer at WHS she was there supporting me on the sidelines and telling me how proud of me she was. When I recieved the news that she had passed it felt like it was my big sister. But, I know that she is in a better place, and that she will be greatly missed!

Mia and I cheered together at WHS, over the past few years we reconnected for moments I truly consider a gift. Upon looking back on our high school days; I realized how beautiful and care-free they were. Life was simple, there were very few challenges that truly put you to a test as a person.
Without those challenges though, I wouldn't have realized the strength of character that it takes to truly live life. Mia has shown me that strength. She lived her life so fully and loved every moment she had. She was a graceful woman full of dignity; and most importantly she possessed a complete passion for God. I find great comfort knowing she is with Him now and without pain.
I will remember her smile & that incredible laugh with great fondness. In her short time here, she truly left an indelible mark.
You were a blessing, Mia. Thank you for touching my life if ever so briefly! I love you, honey!! Until we meet again...
Peace be with you all.
