The other reading from the service for Bern Reilly, written by his neice, Heather.
I am not sad for my Uncle today. He had an amazing life, with an amazing woman, that he was truley, madly and deeply in love with. They had a beautiful home, were part of many organizations and shared many friends. Many people, esspecially those on the "outside", may not have even known he was sick. Maybe just that he was unable to do the things that had once brought him so much joy. You would never have heard him complain about anything, let alone the amount of pain he must have been in. He was always more interseted in you and in a room full of people could make you feel like you were the only one there.
He never made you feel as though you were a bother, or that he had to go out of his way because he always went above and beyond what he had to and never made you question why he did it. It was always just because he wanted to. I know everyone here can think of something this man did that made them feel as though they were exactly where they were supposed to be and if not, they could always get there.
So to my Aunt Fran, family and friends, maybe we will never understand but instead find peace in knowing he is no longer in pain and has found the place where he is needed to be. I am truley sorry.

This is one of the readings from the service for Bern Reilly. This was written by his neice, Christina Barber Clair.
Uncle Bern was one of the smartest people I have ever met in my life. Paying extra special attention to every detail in everything he did. The relationship him and my Aunt Fran had was the epitomy of what every marriage should be. Just the look in his eyes when he looked at her could say more than a million words. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but never forgotten.

Dear Fran:
We can only imagine your pain and heartache, but we do know the wonderful friend Bern was to us and what a special man he was to everyone. Recalling so many wonderful memories that we have shared and the two Christmasses you spent with our family were very special to us, and thanks so much for cleaning up afterwards. You were one super woman in our kitchen!!
Remember the time we won the sliding door grid bet. Bern was so adamant when he was in our family room and said that there were no grids on the sliding doors as they were building your home. This was one bet we knew we would win and we wagered a dinner for the four of us. As we were approaching your home under construction we will never forget the expression on Bern's face as he saw the grids on his sliding doors. That really was a fun dinner especially since it was on Bern.
Nine and a half years ago we met in the sample on Maui Road. We'll never forget that you two thought we were sales people. Here our home was being built at the time and we did have all the answers to your questions and many suggestions. That was the start of our friendship and we enjoyed so much that you appreciated our advice as your home was built.
Fran, we are only a phone call away and please do not hesitate to contact us at any time. We are there for you and if you need something fixed that Jim can do, please call. If you need a good listener, call and I'll be right there for you.
God bless you and give you the grace to accept Bern's death and to sustain you in this very difficult time in your life. Remember the wonderful husband and friend you had for 39 years. He was a gem.
Love & hugs,
Jim & Janice

Fran, Bern was a great neighbor and friend. He was always trying to help everyone he know. Our grandkids really liked him giving Justin golf balls and had a club made shorter for him and giving Paul some old ratchet and always talking to Amber and stopping to say Hi to little E and of course always padding buddie. Fran he will always be with. You are just as kind as Bern always there for everyone. Please let us help you to talk or fix something or take a ride .He will be missed Love to you and your Family Donna/Joe

Mrs.Reilly,
I knew Bern from Pine Hill.He was a kind and honest man who was a pleasure to be around. He was always looking out for others.Words are too shallow to measure the depths of your loss.I will pray that time will heal some of your pain and perhaps you will feel only the good that Bernie brought to us in this world. All of that stays behind to help the rest of us.He would have not wanted it any other way.
My deepest condolences.

My Dearest Darling Husband and Best Friend.
Words can never express how much I miss you. You were my rock, my best friend and my lover. You were the world to me, my heart is broken forever, and only will be repaired when we meet again, which we will. I know you are in peace and no longer suffering and it was God who wanted you at this time, the pain in my heart will never go away, but you will always be with me because I will have a teardrop around my neck that will have some of you in it, and I know that you will be there, you were the best we had a great marriage and I couldn't have asked for anything better. I now know you are my angel and you will always keep me safe. Our 39 years of marriage I couldn't have asked for any better husband. Until we meet again, I will love you forever my dearest, you loving wife, Fran

We were so sad to hear of Bernie's passing. I worked with Bernie for many years in Voorhees going back to INA days, and he was always great to work with and fun to just be around. My wife broke her ankle at the same time as Fran, and Bernie and I would always share recovery stories. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of your greatest sorrow. May God bless you and may your wonderful memories bring you comfort in your grief.

Dear Fran, my deepest condolences during this painful period.
Bernie was one of the finest people I ever had the pleasure of meeting. We often exchanged ideas and laughter during and after our CIGNA employment. His sense of humor was finely tuned and very contagious; I will always treasure those memories and miss very much our email banter.

mrs. reilly: I was so saddened to hear of mr. reilly's passing. I still have great memories of the dinners our family used to have at your house & of "Boo". Also of Mr Reilly trying to steal john's money out of his hand at the dance at my wedding!
Take comfort in your memories of him, they can never be taken from you.
Take care & God bless.

Dear Fran, We are sadden and shocked to hear the news of Bernie's death. He was a great fun loving guy and it was our privilege to know him and call him friend. He was such a big help to our family when Vince had his accident, he always seemed to be there at the right time for us. With much regret we are unable to attend Bernie's Visitation and Memorial service Mass on Friday Morning due to a previous committment.. Our sincere condolences and love to you and your family .. You are in our thoughts and prayers. We will alway miss seeing Bernie, especially at Pine Hill Golf Course.. May he rest in peace.. Love Dot and Vince Riley

I'm so sorry & sad to hear about Bern. We worked together many years at CIGNA mostly via telephone. We got together quite a few times when I visited Voorhees & Bern visited CT. He even came over to the house with some of his Voorhees co-workers to watch a Mike Tyson fight once when he had to stay overnight in CT. He was always a pleasure to work with & I really enjoyed our friendship. The world will be a lesser place without him.
