Robert Kennedy in the spotlight had me remembering my criminal justice class with Mr Bailey. What a cool guy, with lots of great stories. To this day, 40 years later, I still remember him saying “pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered “. RIP Mr Bailey.

My condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Bailey. He will be remembered as the most influential teacher in my educational experience because of his most effective way of teaching and sense of humor. I largely attribute my current profession in law enforcement and the FBI to Mr. Bailey. I feel quite honored to have known him and priveledged to have been one of his students.

Mr. Bailey... I learned so much from him in his class at GCC. Information that will never be forgotten because of the way he portrayed it. That sense of humor was one of a kind!! He will truly be missed. To the family, I send my deepest sympathies.

Mr. Bailey had a profound impact on my life and the lives of others. Although he had a fascinating career with the FBI, we all know that the reason for his short time on earth was to be a teacher. I would not be where I am today in my career if it was not for the mentoring and advice that Bill had given to me.
I have many fond memories of him, way too many to mention. He was my professor, my mentor and most importantly my friend.
I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing. Throughout the years, after my graduation, I had the privilege of running into him from time to time. We would discuss our lives and families. The one topic that would make his face light up like a Christmas tree was talking about his grandkids. I had the privilege of seeing his softer side on occasion, but to see this big man with the tough exterior gush over them was very touching.
Jennifer, Chris and family, please accept my deepest condolences. Mr. Bailey was one of the finest human beings to grace this earth.

Bill Bailey was a great friend, great associate, masterful story-teller a high percentage of them true and one of the finest human beings I have ever met in a long, long, long life.
One of my favorite memories was when he was presenting the Quinn award, one he created in memory of a grand student who died during a N.J. State Police training session. This wonderful man began to tell her story, and then stopped for a bit, overcome by emotion. A tough, tough exterior, concealing the kindest heart one could possess.
All of us miss you, Bill. And for the first time, we'll have the last word. Bless you.

Very few times in our lives with the exception of family members or close friends do we find ourselves at a loss for words when preparing a remembrance of one so unique in their ability to positively impact others. It is with great sadness and a sense of personal loss that we bid farewell to such an individual. The strength of character, manner of delivery, and classroom demeanor are but a few of the attributes to this extremely charismatic educator. The memories of this truly remarkable human being will forever be etched in our minds and hearts. May God Bless the Bailey family.

I sat in many of Bill Bailey's classes long before there was a Police Academy at GCC. I didn't think that young man could teach this old Philly cop very much, but I had an abrupt change of attitude. The best of times were spent under his tutelage and that of his "partner in crime" prevention, Dave Roberts.
I always looked forward to seeing Bill and his restored cruiser at the "car show" in Williamstown. He was still the same great guy and still remembered teaching this old dog a few new tricks.
The loss to his family, to GCC and to the Law Enforcement community will be felt for many years.
I salute you, Bill Bailey. Rest in Peace. Your friend, gil

Dear Jennifer, Chris and family, I was so saddened to read about your Dad. I have so many fond memories of him as your roommate Jen, in College. He was a fascinating man, his quick wit and humor and great stories that both you and he told. I greatly admired and respected him and the love you all had for him was so evident. I am truly sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers and may all the wonderful memories you hold so dear sustain you for a lifetime.

I was fortunate enough to have Mr. Bailey as my Forensic Science Professor two years ago. I took the classes along with my girlfriend Alica and during our time with Mr. Bailey he became so much more to us than a teacher, we developed a friendship that will keep him in our hearts and thoughts forever.
Mr. Bailey used to tease me that Alicia was a great girl and I needed to commit to her or he would steal her away from me. I would tell him thatI needed to graduate and have a career first but no excuse was good enough, all he wanted me to do was commit. So it happened that Valentine's Day fell on a class day, during our break from class Mr. Bailey pulled me into his office and showed me a brown paper bag, in it was a heart shaped cake and a small bottle of champagne. He told me the ball was in my court and left the room. Back in class he told everyone that someone may have an announcement to make and would give that person thirty seconds to make it, he even started to count down. So I gave in and proposed to Alicia right there in front on the class. The smile on Mr. Bailey's face and the cheer he let our were unforgettable. It was on of the best moments of my life. When Alicia graduated from GCC later that year and we had a get together for her at Clancy's, Mr.Bailey came and had a drink with us and met Alicia's entire family.
He was the greatest teacher we ever had. His kindness and compassion were unsurpassed and The way he mixed his endless knowledge and passion for what he was teaching along with his one of a kind sense of humor and wit cannot be duplicated. There will never be another man like William A. Bailey, and although our time together was short, he impacted my life greatly and I would like to thank him for helping me become the man that I am today.
Thank you Mr. Bailey!
Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family. We are sorry for your loss and we thank you for sharing such a wonderful man with us all.
You will always be with us Mr. Bailey. We love you and we miss you!
Love,
Ray and Alicia

To the Bailey Family - I am truly sorry for your loss. Dr. Bailey was the greatest professor I have ever had. He mixed his awesome sense of humor with information from the book and applied it to real life. He imparted practical knowledge that I still use to this day. The only way I can think to describe my perception of how Dr. William A. Bailey affected his students and friends is to say that he was our Dumbledore. He was very wise and experienced and he recognized quality in students even when they often didn?t see it themselves. He very generously bestowed pearls of wisdom on students in such a way that the material was simply unforgettable. What is most remarkable about Mr. Bailey is, despite his many years of experience, unquestionable knowledge in the field of forensics, and his involvement in a case that will forever be a significant part of the history of the United States, from the way he approached his instruction, you might never have known. His modesty, and genuine belief in the potential of every student, catapulted him beyond the realm of the average instructor. His students, one of whom I am very proud to have been, are his legacy. He was our teacher, our friend, and our hero, he will never be forgotten.

First I would like to say I'm very sorry for your loss. Mr. Bailey was a great man and I often thought of him. He was my forensic science teacher in 1996-1997. I always tell everyone that the best education I ever received was at Gloucester County College and mainly because of Mr. Bailey. I not only loved how much he knowledge he had, but I absolutely loved his sarcastic sense of humor. He was just great. I think I saw him about 10 months ago at Clancy's and I so much wanted to say hello to him, but I felt I would be bothering him. Now I wish I would have. He touched my life in so many ways and I still smile everytime I think of his class. And to you Mr. Bailey - NFW - as you would have said it. Great man, touched a lot of lives, and he will always be in my heart.

I was one of Bill's first students at GCC as a young police officer in the early 70's. We remained friends and colleagues for the next 35 years. His teaching abilities were outstanding, attested to by being voted as "Professor of the Year" at GCC many times. He supported my career at Washington Twp. police, the Gloucester County Police Academy and as adjunct instructor at GCC. You could always count on reading an editorial in the newspaper if Bill was unhappy with a particular event...or if he was supporting a friend. I never heard anybody say anything detrimental about Bill Bailey...what an unforgetable character!

I was extremely sad to hear of the passing of Bill. He was My Professor, My Mentor, but first and foremost always My Friend.
I can honestly state that he was one of only two Professors that I actually learned from, and made my transition into Police Science easy and without any doubts.
Bill got me through some tough times of indecision during the last couple of years of my stint in law Enforcement.
Other than Bill's qualities for teaching, there was his great sense and style of Humor, and that is where we made the connection for many years as professional collegues, and again, just plain good ol' friends.
I will miss Bill very much, but I know he is at peace.
To his family, I give you my heart felt sympathy. For you have truly lost a treasure. If I may be of service to you at anytime, please do not ever hesitate to call upon me.

When I think of Mr. Bailey, I remember the time when I was a bank teller at Commerce Bank. He was always in on his payday with that funny smirk on his face when he would see me. He would stand in line waiting for me to wait on him because he always had something funny to say to me. He would get money back somewhat large amount and he would ask for it back in "multilated one dollar bills" which meant crumpled up, old, and/or discolored.
He was such a funny man. My husband had the pleasure of having him as a professor at GCC and I have heard many funny stories.
He will surely be missed but never forgotten.

Bill was a good man and will missed by many. God comfort his family and friends.
He was one of my instructors years ago at G.C.C. It took ten years to earn an A.P.S.T. When I graduated I had "tenure", having started when G.C.C. opened at the High School. Retired as a Police Lieutenant Pennsauken Twp, 1985. Being the same age as Bill we became friends over the years. He will always be alive in our memories.

What can I say about Mr. Bailey... For anyone who had the pleasure of taking a class with him, you know that a great human being and kind soul has passed... I would not be the person I am today if it were not for "words of wisdom that flowed from his ruby lips." Mr. Bailey was a mentor and a friend. I only regret that I did not get to see him when I last had the chance.
To Mr. Bailey's family... please know that many many people respected Bill and that his legacy will live on in thousands of people that he truely touched. God Bless...

To the family of Mr. Bailey,
My brothers, friends and I took every class that Mr. Bailey had to offer. We urged him to teach summer classes and winter break classes. We would laugh right out of our seats between the educational antics of him and his colleague, Mr. Dave Roberts, always teaching in the next classroom.
Bill Bailey really tested your mettle in that classroom. We would sometimes even ask Mr. Bailey a setup dumb question, just to sit in awe in how he would tear us apart. It was a real hoot & we learned tons about criminal justice. All of those notes would cramp your hands.
My friends and I would jokingly attempt to bribe Mr. Bailey with some "Crown Royal" for a good grade. He would then start yelling, so that everyone could hear, that "not even a tanker truck" of the stuff could ever help our grades!!!! That guy really had us in stitches. He mixed wit & humor with great classroom instruction.
There was also a gentler side to Mr. Bailey. When a student was having problems at home, work or school, Mr. Bailey, holding that little styrofoam coffee cup & always wearing a suit, would motion with that distinct index finger for the student to "meet him in his office" - out in the hallway. He was such a caring man & great listener.
I want to thank your family for sharing your father/grandfather with all of us at Gloucester County College. He will be sorely missed. In his memory, we can do our best in serving others.
