Dear Kathie,
I just heard about your mom. It's been 4 years since I lost my mom. Everyday gets a little better. When I think of your mom, it makes me smile. I remember our talks at your kitchen table. I will be in touch soon.
Love Joni

As i read these emails i get tears in my eyes. It has been almost 30 years since my mom died and my dad has been gone 5 - it is still tough some days but somedays but the memories are wonderful.
I remember Aunt Marge's radiant smile and her wonderful laugh. My biggest memory of the Egan's house of 8th Avenue is of the guppy fish tank and that great tree in your back yard. I also remember jumping out of the tree and on to Billy's bicycle and hurting myself. Aunt Marge's smile and warmth as she and my mom put in a tub of warm water to clean me up while i was screaming away.
Uncle Bill and his projects always going on lots of sawdust and how he and my dad could have been twins even though there were 6 years separating them.
I loved how different you all spoke compared with those of us in North Jersey. Still remember Kathy's use of the word BOSS meaning coolest and i can remeber NEVER wanting to eat a pb & pickles.
I am in San Antonio and won't make it up for the viewing or funeral but my love is with you all - Living so far away is great and horrid at the same time -
My love to you Uncle Bill and to all you cousins - I can only imagine the fun that the Egan's will have when Marge is at the Pearly Gates.
Love - Missy

Our condolences to the Egan family at this sorrowful time. "Mrs Egan", that who she was to me, was one heck of a lady who will most surely be missed.
I couldn't help remembering her driving us to CCD in that old Ford station wagon. Or keeping a watchful eye over us kids, there were plenty, while we played on the front lawn of the 8th Avenue home. There's just too many great memories to list. Thanks "Mrs Egan"...rest in peace.

Dear Kathie and Family,
How sad I am for you and your family. It is never easy to lose a mother. It has been 18 years without mine and I miss her everyday. My most vivid memory of Mrs.Egan is standing at the kitchen counter on 8th Ave. making me my first peanut butter and sweet pickle sandwich. I have thought so many times of that day whenever I made my kids a PB&J. I even tried to get them to have one. I would tease them and say you'd eat one if Mrs. Egan made it.
I could go on and on. I use to love to go over the Egan's house, always so hectic and fun. I remember Sharon as a baby and helping "change" the diaper!!my first timeMr.Egan always busy doing something in the basement, the saw would be buzzing and sawdust would be everywhere! Playing school down there on old desk from St.Rose. But everytime you walked into that house, Mrs Egan would greet you with a smile. She was the only oneparent that is who called me Jeanna.made me feel so grown up. The endless hours playing on the back porch in our "cardboard" box world. Just sitting under that big tree in the back yard with Kathie and Johnny Eganwas never just Johnny but Johnny Egan Marianne and Tommy Carr. I think thats when that big black ant decided to move into Johnny Egans ear!! As I sit and type this I keep thinking more and more from my childhood and all those cherised memories of my youth and "hanging" at the Egan's house. My heartfelt sympathy to all of you, you have lost not only a mom but a friend.

Aunt Margaret was a positive and upbeat person. She made me laugh many times when I was growing up with her comments on family life and life in general. Many of her observations should have found their way into one of Erma Bombeck's books. It is difficult to lose a parent and we are sorry for your loss.
