To my cousins, Bill, Ken, Gary and Eileen ... may God give you the strength as you endure the days ahead .. think of all the fond memories you have of your Mom .. she was a great woman.
I would like to leave this Irish Blessing for all of you ....
May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you
in the hollow of His hand.
I love you all ... Dorene

Mom
It is evident in all the messages celebrating your life that you did indeed enjoy life, family being a large part of that. For that, I am truly greatful. You and dad focused on family. Your many camping trips, which could not have always been easy with four children. To my good fortune, this brought you to Lake Kandle where I met the love of my life.
I thank you for all your love and kindness and for bringing four great children into the world, one in particular who would be my world.
Love Always
Marilynne

The Jones Family
Behind every student
there lies a great teacher
behind every church
there lies a great preacher
Behind every great team
there lies a great coach
behind every wedding
there lies a great toast
Today there will be joy
in all of us knowing
with the passing of Elaine
a flame is still glowing
The flame will glow bright
as we all feel sorry
for this great teacher has passed
but she'll be watching tomorrow
She will be watching
with God at her side
saying that is my family
with which I have pride
They have learned all my lessons
for they all found success
they love one another
and must now put me to rest
A great mentor is gone
but the Jones all know
for this great Mother's flame
will eternally glow

Mom,
What a blessing right from the start to have a Mom with a warm welcoming heart. Thank you for a love... lasting and true, and a home to grow up in filled with our family "characters" too. As I moved on to become a wife and a mother, your support and guidance helped like no other. And these last years our roles reversed the lesson continued that family comes first.
If there is happiness in my heart it's because you helped put it there. If there is gentleness in my beliefs it's because you showed me tolerance. If there is a rainbow over my shoulder it's because of your outlook and vision.
Mom, the separation will be difficult until we meet again. But I will carry your love deep inside, hear your voice of wisdom, see your sparkling green eyes, and gentle smile of joy and pride. I will be comforted by your reunion with Dad... that handsome young man who winked at you at a party 60 some years ago. God bless you.
I love you,
Eileen

To my Mother in Law
ALWAYS
Always who was caring and kind
Always who was willing to lend a hand
Always believing in the Lord she dearly loved
Always a devoted wife, mother and friend
Always and forever in my heart
She could not stay another day
Her need to rejoin Bill she'd often say
To laugh, to love and sometimes play
Tasks undone must stay this way
She found peace this close of day
With God's blessing and love we pray
Forever in my Heart
Ruthy

Hi Mom,
We had our first meeting when I was still in high school and Bill brought me to Verga with some friends. You made us a lovely dinner. You were standing at the mixer when I walked in probably making a 1-2-3-4 cake. That was one of the favorite recipes you've shared with me over the years.
After that first time, I was a frequent vistor to S. Jersey. I enjoyed the love and fun you all had together.
After Bill and I married, you were always there for weddings, graduations, baptisms and showers. The trip was never too far or troublesome. I love you and Dad for all of that. You always took an interest in the childrens' lives and what everyone was doing.
It was a blessing to be able to see you over Thanksgiving and again at Meghan's wedding. You looked so pretty. Now when we come from church on Sundays, Bill won't say "I'm going to call my Mom." That was a regular part of his Sunday. We'll think of you and say a prayer instead.
In my prayers forever.
Love, Jackie

Bill,Ken,Gary,Eileen. I know the pain you are going thru now and I am so sorry that I am so far away in Nev. that I can't embrace each one of you. Your mother and I talked at least once a month and I am so glad I got the last chance to talk to her just a week before she passed. I loved her not as a sister in law but as a sister. I have wonderful memories of the time we spent together whenever I came east, at the lake, watching her and my brother bowling. I am going to miss your mother and I love you all. I too, will be with your dad and mother some day.
Love, Your Aunt Jennie

I will never forget the first time I met Willie's Nana & Pop-pop on the stairwell of the hotel, the day of Debbie's wedding. After we were introduced to one another she said, "My husband is William the 2nd and Willie is the 4th." Willie and I were only dating then, but I knew from the warmth of her smile on that first meeting that she was a special grandmother. It was apparent how very proud she was of her family and she made me feel important to carry on Jones traditions. I heard the telling of the names almost every visit and it always made me smile. I am so glad our girls were able to able to meet their great-grandmother and experince that warmth, even it was only for a brief time.

Nana,
Thank you for your guidance and for living a life that cannot be mistaken for anything less than admirable. You have lived a long, loving life characterized by fidelity, modesty, and unselfishness. Left behind are not mindless expenditures such as closets full of wasted clothing, shoes worn only once then forgotten or some unnecessarily large house with cold rooms that have never felt the warmth of a happy gathering. Certainly, Pop-pop and you could have lived a higher profile life, lived in a bigger house, drove more expensive cars, had appliances with the most impressive specs you guys never even owned a dish washer but the absence of those type things never seemed to bother. Instead, you invested in your family, your friends, and in each other. It is the emphasis on these living/ real investments in life that shall truly survive you and will honor you best. It is the love and appreciation of your family that will honor you much longer than the ?things? people accumulate in life assuming that we as your descendants follow your example and make it so. Your wealth shall forever trump that of those who are remembered for what they bought or accumulated and they in turn will never know as you did, what it meant to be truly happy and satisfied in life. Nana, I wish that we make you proud.
Lovingly,
Your Grandson Jace

It seems that I have known Elaine my whole life. She did know my Ken almost all of his. She told me often of what a cute little boy he had been when she and her family first moved into the house next door to Ken's family.
As newleyweds, Ken and I bought his parents' house next door to the Joneses. For many years we were just that..good neighbors...watching our kids grow up, borrowing the occasional cup of sugar, and sometimes socializing with a card game or two. Elaine and Bill were pros at cards, Ken and I novices. She often reminded me of the time they were teaching us a new game and Ken and I beat them. We were as surprised as they.
The last few years Elaine and I had been thrown into a relationship neither of us could have anticipated nor wanted. One of pain and loss. We both knew...knew the anguish of losing our hearts, of losing one most dear to us. But there was a silver lining...she and I had gotten to know and appreciate each other more intimately.
Elaine's children, of whom she was immensely proud, think of how much I have helped her. They have no idea of how much dear Elaine has helped me.
Billy, Kenny, Gary, and Eileen...how fortunate you were to have had her for your mother, and how fortunate I was to have had her for my friend and confidant.
I wrote this in my journal after Gary called me with the news that Elaine died.

Elaine Jones died today. I hope with all my heart that she is with her Bill in Paradise as she so fervently wished. She went peaceably, and I truly hope she is at peace. I will miss this lady.

Mom, out of love you gave birth to my two brothers and sister. You showed us a mother?s love has neither reason nor motive and forgave all our misdeeds and imperfections. As a testimonial to your love, you left this world last Sunday surrounded by those same four. Thank you for living life?s meaning- love. I will miss you forever
