Msgr. Cooke was one of my favorite people. Always had that Irish twinkle in his eyes that made me want to look up my Irish relatives. I will never forget when he drove all the way to Children\\\'s Hospital in Phila. to bless my young son who was in critical condition. He came by the house twice to check up on him after he made it home. He\\\'s now 19. Msgr. has encouraged my other son through altar server training. He was always there for his people. We loved Msgr. dearly and will miss him terribly. Thank You Msgr. for being in our lives and making us want to be better people.
- Sincerely, Sharron Brandt

Msgr. Cooke always reminds me of the saying from the Wizard of Oz. \\\"A heart is not judged by how much you love, but by how much you are loved\\\" and he was loved much and added to that was a great sense of humor.
Even in death his wonderful sense of humor came through at the Mass of Jesus Christ, the High Priest. I\\\'m sure he set up Msgr. Clarke at the intersessions.
May he rest in peace.

While I will miss his unscripted sermons, Ah, you know what I mean, his jokes \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Then St Peter said. . . I will miss more the priest who took care of his people with great kindness, humility, and unprecedented grace. Msgr. Cooke taught us all how to love, to forgive, and to live. May we all have enough grace to remember those lessons. Peace be with you, Msgr.

Msgr. John Cooke and I served together in Pitman, NJ for eight years. He preached at ecumenical services in the Presbyterian Church where my wife Carolyn and I served as pastors. We were invited to his church to share in baptisms and assist in ecumenical services. We prayed together at pastors\\\' meetings and shared meals together.
He was a wonderful, caring man of faith. We were blessed by him and his ministry.
John Cooke died on the eve of the day that we celebrate the gift of Jesus, God-with-us.
I remember a comforting poem by Ann Weems:
Jesus wept,
And in His weeping,
He joined Himself forever
To those who mourn.
He stands now throughout all time,
This Jesus weeping,
With His arms about the weeping ones:
\\\"Blessed are those who mourn,
for they shall be comforted.\\\"
He stands with the mourners,
For His name is God-with-us.
Jesus wept.
May God comfort and bless his family and his parish.
Grace and Peace,
Bruce Gillette
