Jim and I were 1969 GCHS classmates sharing virtually every class together for the four years. He was always the man to beat in all of our math courses. I could nip at his heels but he would always easily pull ahead. We then both attended the Rutgers Camden Campus enrolling in their 5 year Engineering Program and again track through most of our courses together where (again) he was the undisputed King of Math (if I may brag, I did beat him in Physics.). In the Spring of 1970 we both pledged and became very active members of the Tau Epsilon Phi National Fraternity (Sigma Epsilon Chapter) where over the years we participated in a variety of culturally enriching and socially elevating activities (as all frat houses do) cumulating in a week long inter-fraternal Pinochle Championship Tournament where Jim and I, as a team and with our combined math skills, slaughtered all comers ultimately taking the championship crown and all of the booty that went with it. I believe it was two of the finest bottles of Boones Farm wine and all of deserved admiration of the Sorority Sisters… yes it really was good to be the Champions of Camden. Jim graduated with a degree in Math and I in a hybrid General Science / Math / Physics degree.
During these short 4 years with Jim, he was more than a good friend, he was the brother I never had. The man I could talk to, laugh with, party with, double date with, study with, get into trouble with. The guy you could always count on to cover your back (and ass.) If he every had a bad word or thought about anyone then I missed it and I was with him a lot back then.
Truly and genuinely a wonderful man. May God bless Jim and to all of the joy he brought to us all.
My heart felt condolences to all of his family.
