Obituary of Nick Ballistreri

Ballistreri, Nick, 79, died on May 26, 2006 in the Underwood Memorial Hospital of Woodbury. ?A dedicated family man who served his community.? Nick graduated from Woodbury High School where he excelled on the Athletic Field. He served in the Army-Air Corp during World War II. He enjoyed playing for the Woodbury Steelers, semi pro team which led to his involvement with the Woodbury Parks and Recreation Committee and culminated in his appointment to Gloucester County Parks Commission. Nick?s dedication to his community never deterred him from his demanding career as a national and international Marketing Director for Texaco. His zest for life also included the art of politics. Although Nick was a dedicated Republican holding many offices he was respected and admired by both sides of the aisle. He was a leading expert in NJ on Election Law and Computerized elections. In l982, Gov. Tom Kean appointed Nick to the NJ State Athletic Control Commission. Which oversaw the sport of boxing. During his tenure NJ was the Fight Capitol of the World. During this period Nick restored order and integrity to this sport. Nick always found time for his golf game at Woodbury Country Club where he served as Club President. He enjoyed Woodbury Rotary and serving as a Director of Lenape State Bank. Nick is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Nee Yeiter, beloved children; Susan, John and his wife, Mary Sue, Rick and his wife, Diana and Tom and his wife Barbara. Grandchildren; Adrienne, Elizabeth, Matthew, Nick, Lisa and Alexander, dear brother of Rose Waters, Helen McMahon, Rita Schultes, Gloria Rando, Bette Birk, Geraldine Stuart, Linda Pichette, John Ballistreri and the late Dorothy Nugent.
