Jim was a good guy and fun to be with during his short period on City Council. He was bright, clever, witty, experienced, challenging, helpful and left any differences behind him at the meeting. He was a most memorable friend.

My cousin Jimmy was a really wonderful guy. The last time that I saw him was in Woodbury on one of my visits to my dad after my mother died. I will remember Jimmy the way he was that day: so upbeat and loving, one of the "cuz's", always asking how my dad was and where my brother, Paul, was living. I spoke to my brother last night, and he told me that a number of years ago he met with Jimmy for a drink when Jimmy was traveling in the same far-flung environs where Paul was working; Paul said that they had a wonderful visit together.
I know that Jimmy loved his nieces and nephews so much. I know that he died knowing how very much he was loved by them. Probably one of the most rewarding and uplifting realities of his life was that his niece, Karen's, beautiful baby boy, born 16 months ago, was named after him. Jimmy and James hung out together for two wondrous visits. It doesn't get any better than that.
