Today is Mark's 2nd birthday. Although you have never met your nephew, I know that you sent him to me. He carries the middle name "Gregory" and reminds me of you in so many ways. Words cannot express how deeply you are missed...every Holiday, birthday and wonderful event is just not as great without you here. Even the Phillies winning the World Series was bittersweet for all of us...Such a die-hard Philly fan - you should have been here celebrating with us. It will be three years that you are gone this month. I know that your spirit is still with us...How else could we possibly have gotten through these past three years?
Your beloved sister,
Audrey

AGAINST NATURE TO SEE A VITAL,
PRODUCTIVE, LOVING, CARING,
GREAT FATHER,
GREAT HUSBAND,
GREAT GRANDSON,
GREAT BROTHER,
GREAT FRIEND,
AND GREAT, WONDERFUL SON,
BE BURDENED WITH SICKNESS.
IT SEEMS DEATH WAS A BLESSING?
THE SEASONS WILL CONTINUE TO CHANGE.
THE GRIEVING SEASON HAS JUST BEGUN.
IT WILL NEVER CHANGE.
THERE AREN'T ANY WORDS THAT WILL BRING TO YOU THE COMFORT YOU NEED.
I WISH YOU SOME KIND OF PEACE,LOT'S OF FAITH.
ONE DAY WE WILL KNOW THE ANSWERS TO THE QUESTIONS.
UNTIL THEN KNOW YOU HAVE RAISED A WONDERFUL SON WHO WILL BE LOVED AND MISSED BY MANY.
THE WORLD WAS LUCKY TO HAVE HIM,
SORRY TO HAVE LOST HIM.
NO ONE FEELS THE LOSS AS YOU DO.
I FEEL YOUR PAIN.
MUCH HUGS TO YOU ALL

Dear Greg, Maria and Audrey, my heart is crying as I sit and read every one of the 168 entries on this site. I knew Greg when he was little but didn't have the pleasure of knowing him as well when he grew into a man that was loved by so many, I feel that it was my loss. It must have been Gods plan to let everyone that came in contact with Greg know what it was like to meet a living breathing angel. There isn't much more that can be said that hasn't been said already. Be strong and know that one day we will all be together with the ones we love now and the ones that we loved in our past. Dear Ficchi Family, It deeply saddened and shocked me to hear the news of your beloved Greg. He epitomized a genuine, sincere, & upbeat person. I will forever remember him & your family as the warmest of people I have ever encountered. Greg & I graduated high school together and to this day a photo of us attending the Spring Fling together remains on my parents' bureau and in my cherished album. It is without a doubt that Greg was the ultimate father and husband as he was a son, a brother, uncle, and friend. I deeply regret not being able to see you personally last night at the viewing. The incredibly long lines were only a small tribute to the kind of person Greg will always remain in our hearts. I am grateful to have known him. My love and prayers go out to you. My prayers go out to the Ficchi family. I pray that you look to the hills from which cometh your strength. God is faithful and true! He will never leave you nor forsake you! Greg and I worked together at Towers Perrin. We sat behind one another for four years. Throughout those four years I truly got to know Greg, his wife Alisa, his beautiful children Alexis and Nicholas and everyone who was near and dear to him family & friends. Greg was a wonderful, honest and caring person. He always had a smile on his face and a positive message to relay! He was a true Flyers and Eagles fan!!!! Without a doubt, he was devoted to his family and friends. With every season that passed, I could pretty much predict what Greg would be doing. In the summer he and his FAMILY would go to the shore, in the winter, he was always looking forward to family gatherings and celebrations... I know that God sent an angel here on earth to touch many lives and that angel is Greg! I thank the Lord for having Greg in my life and the opportunity to reflect on the life of a remarkable person. I pray that those memories will strengthen, encourage and guide his family. Greg will truly be missed by one and all, but his memory will last a life time. God bless you all.

I have known the Ficchi family for a relatively short period of time. However, as a weekly visitor to the the Ficchi home, I witnessed love, courage, and compassion. When Greg was diagnosed, he faced his treatment with strength and determination and his positive and upbeat attitude continued. His deep love for his family was evident daily. I was awed by the Alisa's dedication and devotion as she tended to Greg and cared for her Alexis and Nicholas. Alexis and Nicholas lit up when Greg entered the room and their love for their Daddy was obvious. Greg and Alisa had the unending support of extended family who were there to assist with Greg's appointments and the care of Alexis and Nicholas. Greg was truly an inspirational man. My prayers are with Alisa, Alexis, NIcholas and the entire family.

I met Greg when I started 9 years ago at the Towers Perrin Voorhees location. He was my Team Leader in the Production Services dept. There is so much I'd like to share, but in order to be brief I will sum all of my feelings and memories of Greg as being a supportive, personable, hard working, loyal, cheerful, and comical person. One of my most fondest memories of many is the concern that Greg shared at a very difficult time in my life as well. My sibling was very ill and it was sometimes difficult to face another day at work, but because of the type of person Greg was to work for he made a difficult task easier. Greg loved his family greatly and it showed. My prayer for Alisa and their family is that they will get through this difficult time and loss.

I can still remember in high school talking Flyers with him every season. Some of my fondest memories of him were during the summer of '89 sitting with him & Audrey at his house late at night just hanging out, talking about everything & listening to music with him singing along to whatever was playing. He turned me on to a bunch of bands that I still listen to today. I also used to love to listen to his radio show during college. He was always so upbeat & full of life, and always brought a smile to my face. I was fortunate enough to meet his wife Alisa during our high school reunions. To one of the greatest guys I have ever known,
I remember when I moved back to Jersey from Texas, although I didn't know my cousin very well as of yet because I was away for so long, Gregory still showed such great affection for me like we had known each other our whole lives. I am happy that I did get to move back so I could get to know him because I don't think I'll ever meet a more generous and loving soul. I'll miss the barbeque's at the Ficchi's, playing hockey/basketball in the backyard, the New Years Eve party's that were distracted by the Flyers games in Vancouver, the summer Barbeque's with Chuck, Vic, and Keith that would never happen, and just sitting around at his house talking to him about what's going on in his life and all of my inadequate relationships as he tried to set me up with another doomed blind date. He was truly a special person and will be missed by everyone who was lucky to know him.

To the Ficchi family, please know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers. I had the pleasure of working with Greg for three years on the Ameritch Team at Towers Perrin. A small group of us celebrated our birthday by going out to lunch. He just beamed with pride when he talked about his wife and children. Even with the difference in our ages, I feel we became good friends. He would laugh at my stories about the trials of raising teenagers and young adults. I am glad I had the opportunity to work with him and get to know him as a person, father and most of all friend. Even when I moved out of state, we kept in touch via e-mail. He will be missed.

He was so funny and always had a kind word to say. We have had a lot of laughs especially in the office over the years. Anyone who knew him considered him a friend. I admired his positive attitude. He always had a friendly nature and a warm hello whenever you saw him. He was so happy and appreciative for everything he had, especially his family. He was a dear friend and he will be truly missed.

Greg was one of my "star" Team Leaders in Production Services, 8 years ago. I used to refer to him as my "Golden Boy," given his enthusiasm for his job, devotion to his staff and excellent leadership and mentoring skills - but Greg was always so humble! We remained friendly thoroughout the years in Towers Perrin, and I quickly learned of his enduring love and devotion for his beautiful wife and adorable children. Greg was a model husband, father, mentor, leader, friend and encouraging coworker to those who knew him, and I will surely miss his bright smile and kind words. But I know he is now in a heavenly place, where he belongs, looking down and still smiling.

When we heard the sad news of Greg's death, Sarah and I started talking about memories that we had. I told her that I would always remember his smile and his laughter. In my mind, Greg was a joyful person... In my mind, he was always pure... Sarah remembered his backyard treehouse and the fact that Audrey and him had the "best" acorns. Once when we adults were inside of the house having coffee, they all had the greatest acorn war EVER! I know he is at peace now, but I think we will all search for his kind of joy and purity forever. I will continue to pray that we all find it.

When I think of Greg or see him in the office, he would always greet you with such a warm smile. Greg's wife and I were expecting our second child around the same time. I can remember when we gave my son Marcus the nickname "Bubba James". Greg would always laugh and smile. We often talk about our kids and exchanged many stories such as the feedings, changing diapers and watching them grow. Greg was truly a family man, father, husband and a true friend. I have been most fortunate to have worked with Greg Ficchi at Towers Perrin since 1996. During all of that time, one of my favorite memories of Greg is his "double thumbs up" whenever something went right - whether it happened with family, the Flyers, the Eagles, or work - the "double thumbs up" signal meant everything was okay.
Well, here's a big "Double Thumbs Up" to a man who deserves recognition for being so devoted to his lovely wife Alisa, to his children, Alexis and Nicholas, to his mother Maria, to his father Gregory, Sr., to his sister Audrey, and to cherished friends and work associates. Greg showed us all just how to do it right. It was obvious from watching the family surround him with love and devotion during his last days where he had learned to be such a person who exhibited boundless compassion, understanding, selflessness, and most of all - love.
Devotion to family was evident all year round, but especially during the holiday season when it came to Towers Perrin Christmas parties. Although Greg knew spending time with fellow employees celebrating the end of another busy year would definitely be hilarious, with resolute determination, he would tell everyone that he wanted to go home and spend time with his family. Inherently, he knew that time with his wife and children was precious - not a single moment could be lost.
Thank you to the Ficchi family for giving us Greg. All of our lives have been enriched by him. Our world is a better place because of our dear friend, Gregory Ficchi. I prefer to think that he is now watching over us and protecting us in heaven, as he did here on earth.
May God bless the Ficchi family during this most difficult time.

I wrote on of these the day after his passing but it didn't take for some reason. My husband, Josh, met Greg somewhere in 1995 when they both worked for Towers Perrin. They had so many of the same interest such as hockey boy was that a huge one, music, and the same values on family and friendship. I met his wife I believe right before they got married and they both welcomed me as a friend right from the start. We would go over for BBQs, dinners out, hanging out at the house watching movies, kids birthday parties, day trips down the shore, etc. When it was our turn to get married, Josh asked Greg to be his best man at our small humble gathering in 1999.
When Josh got deployed to Germany Josh would call Greg and they could talk for hours on the telephone. I would joke that they were like brothers b/c of the time they can chat on the telephone. Greg and Alissa were always a beautiful couple together and their personalities were one in which I envied that they knew right away what they wanted in life, marriage, children and a great loving home for all of them. Alissa, I will always be here for you and Josh says the same. I hope that this holiday coming up will give you peace and I do love you. - Melanie

His ability to be positive and his courage were an inspiration to us. To face the cancer head on and fight with that ferocity was a testament to his character and to his incredibly supportive family.
I went to see Greg early Thanksgiving morning. Gregs dad was there just holding Gregs hand and loving him, caressing him. Like only a daddy can when the hurt is that bad. I immediately saw where Greg learned to be a great and loving dad. Mr & Mrs Ficchi, thanks for sharing Greg with us. Alisa, Thank you for showing us what strength and love truly are. Greg, Thank you for being our friend.

Dear Alisa, Alexis, Nicholas, and the rest of the Ficci family,
I'm so sorry for your loss. I haven't seen Greg probably since highschool or right after, but was very saddened by his passing. My fondest memory of Greg was of our senior trip to FLorida. He was a great guy.
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

Dear Ficchi Family,
Words cannot express the deep sorrow and heartache that we feel for you all with Greg's passing. Greg was one of the nicest friends that Chuck had since they first struck up their friendship in high school. Greg was a genuinely good person and he touched more people with his goodness that he or you probably even realized. He was a pleasure to be around and I feel blessed to have known him. He was a credit to his wonderful family.
Our prayers will continue to be with you. I pray that God will shower you all with the graces and strength to sustain you through your pain. Please know that many people are praying for you. St. Teresa once said that she "will spend her time in Heaven doing good on earth." I believe Greg will be doing the same. He will always be with you.
May God be with you all,
Love,
Tom and Sandy Ruiz

Dear Alisa
I am so sorry for your great loss. It does not even seem real. I remember meeting you and Greg about 15 years ago at a softball game where Greg used to play with my brother Chuck. I remember thinking what a perfect couple, so sweet, so funny, and so cute together. The two of you were meant to be together and words cannot express how sorry I am that your time together was cut so short. Greg was such a nice person. My prayers are with you and your entire family.
With deepest sympathy,

Words cannot express how we all feel about this terrible misfortune to someone so caring and loving, who most definitely did not deserve this. My heartfelt condolences to all who were touched by this wonderful person. I was fortunate enough to see him last week and able to talk to him and shake his hand. In an email he wrote to me in September, he wanted me to meet his kids and I finally did last week. They are beautiful like him and Alisa. His legacy will live on in them. May God be with you all at this most difficult time.

Greg was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. I was so blessed to have him in my life. His smile and his laugh were contagious and his love for life was radiant. There will never be a man that was so kind, loving, generous and supportive as Greg. He was also the most wonderful father to Alexis & Nicholas. You know the saying "It is better to have loved if only for a short time then to never have loved at all." My soulmate is in heaven with Jesus. I will always love and miss him dearly.
