Dear Louis, Rita, and Richard,family and friends,
The day that Becky went home to be with Jesus, as we stood around her bedside, we all would have rejoiced, if only, she could have been made well. Across the years, I've seen so many my family and friends lose their battle with cancer and hoped that a cure could have been found to save them. I can feel and identify with your pain.
In my forty years of being a pastor, I have spoken with people who had what is called "near-death experiences." In every case, they recalled passing from this life and being drawn to a light that was not blinding, but warm, and where they felt loved by God. Some had spoken about seeing loved ones there, and feeling at total peace.
Like you, when my loved ones passed from this life, I would have rather that they could have stayed here. A little time would prove me wrong because if they had been able to remain, given their condition, things would have been much worse. To let them go to be with the Lord where His promise is to give them a new body was far better. I tell you that every time when I think about my loved ones, as you will always be thinking about Becky, give thanks to God for God's infinite love in Jesus Christ . . . God's grace, God's love . . . that reminds us all that "the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23
