Mike, The shocking news was like a thousand punches to my stomach. It took the wind out of me. You left an indeleble mark on me. God certainly has a classy guy. Thanks for being a great brother.

I wish I knew you as an adult. I only knew you as a kid. We talked on the phone last year and planned to get together, but circumstances kept us from doing it. I am sure we would of had a good time getting to know each other as adults. Talking to you I got the impression you're a positive, outgoing, genuine person. I am only sorry that I didn't get to meet you.

Ed and I will always remember the guy who always had a smile on his face and his sweet ways. There was a certain innocence about Mike and a softness that not many people have. We're glad that he had Barbara in his life to watch over him and to protect him from himself as much as she could. We are grateful for that. I know that Ed will miss him very much. Mike knew that Ed loved him and was there when he needed him. Barbara, it is with a heavy heart that we express our sorrow to you for your loss.
Love,
Ed and Cass

Uncle Mike -
I will always remember the way you always bragged about how smart I was and how you always told me how pretty I was. You always made me feel good about myself. I am sorry we never got to have that barbeque we talked about at Mark's wedding. Say hello to grandmom Mom and grandpop and Nancy for me.
Love,
Shelly

I am going to miss hearing Mike?s classic, ?Hiya Danny!? which he never failed to say when he saw me.
When I think about Mike, it isn?t a particular event that comes to mind necessarily, but a presence. He had way of carrying himself that is reminiscent of the heroes in an old Western. At a time when ?old school? style solid guys are few and far between, Mike was a shining light.
He also always had a way of making you feel like a champ. I remember when I first started to get to know him years ago as a young guy. I would get out of my 10 year-old clunker of a car and talking to him for a few minutes. I would walk away from the conversation feeling like a million bucks and like I had pulled up in a Rolls.
The other thing I remember about Mike was just how much he knew about SO many subjects. It was unbelievable! The guy was a walking Encyclopedia. I remember driving with him to AC and a talk show was on the radio. I forget the exact subject, but it was a recent political topic and he told me what exactly was going on, and the history that led up to the event. He systematically went back through history filling me in on every detail back to Roosevelt!
It was an honor having him and Barbara at my wedding and I was so proud showing him my son a few weeks ago.
Me and my family our going to miss you Mike, but we?ll never forget you.
