Obituary of August G. Bendler
Bendler, August G. ?Gus? of Voorhees, formerly of Almonesson, NJ, on Nov. 3, 2005. Aged 90 years.
Born in Yonkers, NY , Mr. Bendler was adopted by his grandparents at the age of 6, he was raised and educated in Bishwiller, France from 1921 to 1932. He returned to New York at age 16. When he turned 18 years old he joined the United States Marines in 1934 having served in Panama, while in WWII, he was a rifle instructor.
Mr. Bendler was a commissary manager for White Towers Restaurant, Camden where he was employed for 43 years until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the Marine Corps League of Phila., until 1960. He was the Past Commander of the American Legion Post #186 Reath Marine Post Phila, and Past 2nd District Commander American Legion, Phila. He was also Past Chief 40/8 Voiture #1 of Phila and Life member Marine Corps, League Semper Fidelis, Wenonah.
Beloved husband of the late Nancy C. nee Brady . Devoted father of Nancy ?Cookie? Ron Rosciszewski and the late August J. ?Gus? Pat Bendler. Loving grandfather of 4, step grandfather of 2, great grandfather of 7 and step great grandfather of 8. Loving companion of Anita Govito and his loving second family of Fred Barbara Govito, Alicia Wayne Smith, Raymond Catherine and Michael Sue Govito and 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Loving friend of Harriet and Thora Dickerson.

Funeral Mass MON. 11 AM in the church.
Interment New St. Mary?s Cemetery, Bellmawr, NJ.
