Mike left this life without a clue
And now we are left with what to do
A fine young man, so much he gave
A world of hope, so short his days
Mike was known from far and wide
He was such a special guy?
Young and old, big and small
He left an impression on us all
Our memories will never fade
We?ll hold them close, no finer ones made
And through the years his memory will last
And remind us of happy days gone past.
With broken hearts and teary eyes
We will prod on with our disguise
In honor of Mike we will be strong
Even though we know this is all so wrong!
Mike, take care of us, especially mom
You were her rock, this was a bomb
You two were inseparable, now she must cope
Shine down on her and give her hope
Good night, Mike, sleep tight
You will forever be in our hearts
Thanks for all the happy memories, for being you
Know that you will always be with us in everything we do.
We miss you terribly and will always love you.

Dear Gina,
I am so sorry for the tragic and sudden loss of your son. It is so unreal to me that such an awfull thing could happen to such a nice person. I have not seen you in so many years and yet I know by what incredible things were said of your boy that you are the same Gina I remember growing up with. I still remember your huge smile and the way you always found a way to make everyone laugh. I think Michael must have inherited your warm and vibrant personality and it appears he will live on in all that new him. Gina you should be so proud of yourself, you did an outstanding job of raising your child. My family will continue to pray for you and your family. We are so sorry for your loss.

Mike, ill never forget you and neither will anyone else, you were by the far the best class president we ever could have had. I'll never forget the time in Biology sophomore year when we were lab partners and Mr. Lafferty had a bucket of squid and chemicals ismelling up the room for a week, and then come lab day, Monday he asked you to fill it with ice, and you came back eating the ice out of the bucket. Or the many times we just left for GnT after science and didn't tell Reuter that we were down there the whole time. Great times man, ill never forget you. The Red Sox will win it again this year for you, im so glad that they won it last year and we both got to see it.

The great loss of our loving friend Michael Mariano has impacted each of our lives incredibly. Mikey and I had just began a relationship with each other. Only hours before he was taken away from us, he was telling me he wanted to get to know me better, and that he liked me. I never got the chance to tell him I liked him too. I know now that he looks down over us, he realizes how much I really liked him. It's going to be the hardest situation to overcome, but I am trying my hardest to be the strongest I can be. I'm doing this for my Mikey, for our Mikey.
Gina, look and see the impact you have put into our lives by raising such a boy. He is absolutely amazing, and I do not know one person that could disagree. I'm proud of you for how strong you are being, and so is Mikey. I pray for you each and every night. We'll keep in touch. Thanks for everything, and stay strong.

I wish I could say I was very close to your son but I never got that chance, we did however sit in lunch together last year and knew each other through mutual friends. In the short time I knew him I never saw Michael without that fantastic smile on his face and he was always making someone in someway feel better about themselves. He had such incredible talent, kindness, grace, personality, and intelligence. Never will there be a more deserving person of a chance to be in heaven. To Mrs. Mariano and family:
We as a family are terribly sorry to hear of your loss. Two of our kids went to school with your son, Michael. From what they speak of him, he was a truly remarkable young man, deeply loved and terribly missed by all of his classmates, beyond words. We wish you all the best, and hope that somehow, you are comforted by all of the lives that Michael has touched. Our first daughter, mothers, and father were there to greet your son, along with a multitude of others that have gone before us. It is the one solace which we keep close to our hearts, that we will be with them again. Again, we wish you all the best.

Gina,
Ed and I are truly sorry for the tragic loss of your son, Michael. As a mother, I know there are no words adequate enough to comfort you. We never had the pleasure of meeting Michael. Although from the wonderful things I have heard from close mutual friends, I know it would have been a pleasure. A close mutual friend told us that if you met Michael only once he was the kind of person who left a positive impression with you. Although having never met Michael he has left a positive lasting impression on my family as your friends and family speak about him. What a testament to the kind of mother you are and the love you had for each other.
Perhaps the one comfort you can take during this time, if its possible, is that kids including my 3 are now brutally aware of what a tragic, senseless loss this is and learn from it how truly precious life, family and friends are. What a legacy for such a young person to leave. As you think of your sweet son now, may he bring you strength to get through the days. Yourself, Michael and your family are in our family's thoughts and prayers.
God Bless You, Ed & Terri Gilbert and Family

I?m Free
Don?t grieve for me, for now I?m free.
I?m following the path God laid for me.
I took God?s hand when I heard the call;
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I found that place at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss.
Ah yes, these things, I too, will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life?s been full, I savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one?s touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief;
Don?t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me-
God wanted me now, God sent me free.
A prayer from The Marianists Mission at Mount Saint John in Dayton OH

Mike was always such a happy guy. We were in the same homeroom together every year and no matter how tired I was in the morning, I'd always end up laughing because of him. I really got to know him during winter track last year. He was one of the only 5 sprinters on the team and so we named ourselves the "Fab Five." Man, we were so cool. However, I must say that the best part was when Mike tried to do form-running drills and he ended up doing a sort of dance thing that made everyone just stop and fall to the ground laughing. He even made Mr. Hengle laugh. Only Mike could bring a smile to every single person's face who was in the same room as he. Never did I see him upset and that's a credit to you, Ms. Mariano. You have raised one of the best kids ever! Mike was a great friend and has touched everyone greatly. Your child will surely be missed and never forgotten. Mike, I miss you so much and I hope you recieved the balloon that the soccer team sent up right before the start of the game. I know you're making all the angels laugh because that's what everyone loves about you. Always and forever, Mike.
I'll be seeing you,

I met the Mariano's when Michael was two years old at best.
I saw a little boy grow into a young man. The last time I saw Michael he was a yound adolescent and was taller than me there's a surprise. I didn't know Michael well but he seemed to be a quiet guy with a large heart and a careing soul who LOVED his mother very much.
Question : Why is it that there are people in this world killing innocent people without remorse and people like Michael must perrish ???

Gina,
I can't even express in words how sorry I am for your loss. I can't imagine what you must be going through, and when I think about it, it's just so unbelievable and unfair. You have always been such a bubbly, sweet & loving person for as long as I've known you, and although I didn't have the opportunity to meet your son, I know he had to have those same wonderful qualities. In this time of devistation and mourning, I hope it comforts you a bit to know you have the love, support & prayers of family and friends. You and your family are in my prayers.

Dear Michael,
Though I never had the pleasure of meeting you, but as the saying goes "the apple doesnt fall far from the tree". Your father is a great man, a dear friend, and confidant, who's ability shined through when you need it the most- it's apparent that the characteristics your father displayed were very evident in you. Though you have left this earth your work as a friend and family member is far from over, for many individuals will turn to your spirit in guidance and help. Your spirit will help shape those that knew you best.
This is such a terrible loss for the St. Francis family. My heart and prayers go out to all of you. May God bless you and heal you in your time of need.

Michael, a truly amazing individual. I'll never forget that cute little boy who lived down the street from me. I'll always remember the fun times I had babysitting you with Danielle and Tink and parading around the villages of berkley like we owned the place. I hadn't seen you for awhile and then one football game I was sitting there and the person in front of me turned around and there you were, the cute little boy I used to babysit... all grown up. I'll never forget how excited we were to see each other. You touched my life then and you will continue to do so forever. It's incredible how one person can make an impact on so many others. Thats when you know that the person was nothing short of amazing.
Gina- from the first time I met you I knew that Michael was your pride and joy. I know that there are no words to take your pain away but you should reflect and enjoy the fact that Michael really was amazing and you did that. Know that this statement is true, only the good die young. God only wants the best.. and that sure was Michael.
May God Bless you and your family

Dear Gina, Bob & Family,
It seems impossible to speak of any consolation in the face of such a devastating loss. Michael's charm, intelligence, cheerful smile and his deep love for his family will always live on in my heart. I feel fortunate to have known him.
I remember Michael's Uncle Anthony bringing him over to my house in Woodbury Hts when he was just a little guy. I know that Michael was dearly loved by his family and his many friends. I also know that he shared a very special bond with his grandmother, Eileen. My heart aches for all of you.
Michael visited me twice in the guidance office last week. We talked about his classes, his job, and some of his future plans. He was a happy and very grounded young man, and we can all agree that the world has lost someone very special.
With Love,

Mike was the most amazing person. He was nice to everyone and I've never heard a single bad thing about him. I hardly ever saw him in a bad mood. He was one of the few good people left in the world. He didnt deserve this. His passing has effected so many. Even if they only met Mike once, they miss him. The sunset/night sky on Sunday night was amazing. I'd like to think that Mike did that, like a special farewell. This still seems so unreal. But one thing is for sure, Mike will never be forgotten.

I was real close with him when i was in 8th grade. i would see him everyday and we would always just be hanging out in a group of people. when he wasn't there it just wasn't the same. everything he did made me laugh, i remember he invented "cardboarding" he used a cardboard box and wrapped it in duct tape and used it as a skate board. we would all just goof off and have such a great time. we lost touch over the years, but i will always remember him and the times we shared. he was just such an awesome person with the best personality. I know he is watching over us with God by his side. my thoughs and prayers are with the Mariano family. i miss ya mike and i love you man.

Miss Gina,
To say that Mike was an awesome kid would be an understatement. I met him last year for the first time while Kristie Bankes was taking him home. After that, I've seen him many places and enjoyed every minute of his company. Mike has never judged anyone and has always made people laugh. Our school is a complete mess without him. Every single person in Clearview loves him. I hope he's looking down on all of us right now and seeing how much impact he had on every single person who knew him. People who've never talked before are coming together and sharing stories of their experiences with the admirable Mike Mariano. He was friends with everyone, therefor he had so many different types of friends, and I know it would a smile to his face to see everyone reuniting like they are. I can't even explain to you how sorry I am. Mike was such a great kid and an inspiration to everyone. I love Mike and miss him terribly. Stay strong.

Dear Gina,
I remember holding your son when he was about 6 months old at a gathering at my brother's house when he still lived in Oak Valley. I recall you proudly saying with a loving smile, "His name is Michael Scott." He was so cute eating his cookie and loved all the attention, never getting upset at all the people holding him. That was a long time ago.
I now have a son that is almost 13 and I now know that proud love for a son. He is my only child and my best friend. I am writing this with tears coming down, realizing the great pain and loss you are now suffering, the worst thing that could ever happen to a mother.
Remember that your young son, Michael Scott, would want you to keep living and proudly keep his great memory alive. That is something that should never die.
Sincerest Condolences,
Kirsten Zeisloft Boninfante

Gina,
From the day we met it was so very obvious that Mike was your shining star. Never once have we talked that you didn't have a great thing to say about him.
Getting to know him has been enlightening. His character and personality were absolutely spectacular.
My boys enjoyed and will cherish the time Mike spent with them; and they will both miss him so very much. Please know that Mike is someone they always looked up to and someone they loved like an older brother. Not many teenagers would want to be bothered with the likes of twin boys in elementary school! but Mike always took the time and I hope that Billy & Bobby added to the happiness in Mike's life life; as he did for them.
Gina, I can only imagine how difficult this time is for you. But if nothing else, please remember to bask in the light of a job well done. Mike couldn't have asked for a better mother and friend than he had in you. It is this that gives me some comfort-knowing that his sixteen 1/2 years were filled with so much love, that he attained goals, that he lived life with heart and compassion and that he touched so many lives that he will never be forgotten.
I loved him as a friend and will miss him more than he'll know...
Keep your chin up G- that's the way Mike would want it to be!
Love and Condolences,
Jackie

Ms. Mariano,
Although I didn't get the chance to meet you other than once or twice at the tanning salon while I was with Kyle, I was able to enjoy the company of Mike alot over the summer. Mike and I had always known each other, but we didn't start hanging out alot until this summer. Mike has such an infectious smile and not a day I didn't talk to Mike he didn't make me laugh so hard my sides hurt. Mike was such a kind hearted person and you could talk to him about anything, and he would do anything for you without any questions asked not to mention he'd always give Kyle and I free stuff at tacobell. Mike was the kind of guy you wanted to be friends with. He would never do anything to hurt anybody. Mike was such an amazing person and you are such an amazing woman for raising such a great man like Mike. Mike was nothing sort of amazing. My heart goes out to you and not a day goes by that I don't think about you and Mike. We all miss him so much, and our thoughts and prayers are with you always.
