For Uncle Dick
I used to sit on your lap
And laugh and laugh
Now you sit within my heart
and memories of you last and last:
It?s Christmas, 1972;
Sitting with Santa was nothing
Compared to laughing on your lap
As you tickled me non-stop.
It?s Christmas, 1979.
We break the opwatkey
Everyone gives serious wishes
Of health, joy and good grades
And you add with a wink
You hope my dimples never fade.
It?s Christmas, 1983.
We sing Happy Birthday to Jesus
Before diving under the tree;
A custom I continue with my family.
It?s Christmas, 1995.
You play carols on the organ
As nieces, nephews, kids, and grandkids
Gather all around and sing.
It?s Christmas, 2004.
I prayed ?Thy will be done BUT??
Because Uncle Dick would say
It never hurts to nudge ?The Big Guy?
Towards things to go your way.
So now we have our very own
Angel we can hear on High.
And in the quiet of every Christmas,
In the stillness of a starry night
I?ll be listening for those celestial organ strains
And in my heart, Uncle Dick, you?ll play
And be the ?Star that?s brightly shining? in O Holy Night;
You?ll be like the Little Drummer Boy
Who plays for the baby Jesus? delight.
Merry Christmas, Uncle Dick and God Bless Us Everyone.

Uncle Dick was a kind and gentle man. He was always giving and we loved him very much.
Our 20 year old son, Tom Jr., had his very first birthday at Uncle Dick and Aunt Natalie's home during one of these gatherings.
Uncle Dick took Tom's 1969 350 Malibu to New Jersey to make it look like new when Tom was 19 years old. He did a fantastic job in painting and restoring the body. Tom was always proud to tell his buddies that his Uncle Dick did that for him.
Uncle Dick also had a penchant for music. We still have a guitar that he gave us on one of our visits to his home.
Aunt Natalie, we all love you and the family. Uncle Dick will always be in our hearts.
