Obituary of Joseph B. Evaul
Joseph B. "Jake" Evaul, 98, of Woodbury, New Jersey, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2019.
Legacy
A kind and compassionate gentleman, Jake always put others needs before his own. His upbeat and positive outlook on life was contagious. Jake enjoyed model railroading, golfing, bowling and reading, but most importantly was the time he spent with his family.
A lifelong resident of Woodbury Heights, and lifelong member of Kemble United Methodist Church, Jake was a member of the Methodist Men’s Club and served on various committees and as an usher. He was a proud United States Army Veteran of World War II, where he served from 1943 - 1946 and also served as a National Guardsman for 6 years. As an active resident of Woodbury Heights, Jake served as former President of the School Board. Prior to retiring in 1981, Jake was employed at Mobil Oil in Paulsboro for over 40 years where he was former President of the Credit Union and an active member of the Red Horsemen.
Family
Beloved husband of the late Mary V. (nee Jordan); loving father of Sandra (the late William) Hampton and Linda (Mark) Murphy; devoted Pop Pop of Brian (Linda), Stefanie (Jeffrey), Melissa (Robert), Jeffrey, Deborah (Lawton), Cynthia (Brian), Megan (Randell); great grandfather of 15; dear brother of Ruth Morton. Jake is also survived by 4 nieces and nephews and special friend, Elaine "Sally" Jordan.
Farewell Tribute
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jake's visitation on Monday, 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury, NJ 08096, where the Funeral Ceremony will follow at 11:OO AM. Interment will take place privately.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Jake's memory to the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005 or at www.heart.org or to Kemble United Methodist Church, 19 S. Broad Street, Woodbury, NJ 08096.
