I did not know till recently that Mr. McElroy had passed away.
I was friends with his eldest daughter Anne Marie Kelly from his first marriage in high school.
Why are Anne Marie and Patty not mentioned in the obituary?

To the BEST father in law a man could have!
We had a rocky start, but grew to love each other over the years.
You did a great job raising Kathy, Sue and Tom, which taught me to be a GREAT father, just like YOU!
If I could accomplish half as much as you did, in my lifetime, I will know I've done well.
I will miss your sense of humour, your sarcasm, your quick wit, and mostly your strength and dedication to your family.
Say hello to my Mother, until we meet again, my friend, my mentor, you will be sorely missed.
I love you, your son-in-law.

To Susan Ash and Family-
I just wanted to take a moment to let you and your family know I was thinking of you during these difficult times. Although Thomas is gone, I'm sure he left knowing how much he was loved and cherished. From the many conversations I've had with you, it was always quite obvious how dedicated you all were to him. I'm sorry that I won't be there on Saturday to pay my respects but my heart and prayers are with you.
Most sincerely,
Norrie

Dear Mrs. McElroy and family:
I was greatly upset to read about Tom in the newspaper today. I worked around "Sarge" while in the Navy MAA's then became one of his men in the early 1980's. One of his pet peve's was, You going to turn off those red lights tonight? In PHILLY you shutem off a couple blocks away! I know as a rookie i drove/we all drove him nuts, but he stood their right beside you. Never behind. It was his nature. God bless you all.
