You can shed tears that she is gone
or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back
or you can open your eyes and see all she's left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't hear her
or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her and only that she's gone
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
or you can do what she'd want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

Dave,
I met you about five years ago at an awards dinner hosted by the college.
I want you to know that Karen was loved and respected by everyone at ACCC, both faculty, staff, and students.
When I first met her, she was still an adjunct professor. I asked her how she managed to keep that friendly smile everytime I saw her. "You always manage to bring a ray of sunshine into your class and to every meeting. What is your secret?" I once asked her. She replied with a smile.
I do miss her, Dave. I couldn't bring myself to say anything till today. I pray for her soul and ask that God keep her in His presence. May he also give you the strength to carry this onerous burden. God love you all!

Karen was an excellent teacher who really cared about the students at ACCC. I know this for a fact because we shared the same office at the college while I was working there. I used to love to watch her interact with her students before and after her classes. She came off really tough but had a warm and caring heart. The only thing I think she hated about the college was the bureaucracy. Although I hadn?t talked to her recently, we had become very good friends who helped to support one another in trying times. I will really miss not knowing she is around. We always called each other ?roomie?. I will really miss you "roomie" .... very, very, much. Love to the family and I will keep you in my prayers. Nick

Karen was my officemate at Atlantic Cape Community College. We taught math together. I will miss her very much. She always had a funny story about the dogs or Dave...she was always cheerful and gave me energy when I was down. And the candy - she loved Jolly Ranchers and blamed me for it!
Karen was my mentor and someone I could confide in, bounce ideas off and grow with. We had many laughs and shared many classroom stories. We helped each other through good and bad times.
I remember when the new puppy arrived...everyday she came in with a funny story. She was going to take the puppy to training school.
Though I have never met you Dave, my heart reaches out to you. She was dear to me and I will miss her very much, but she was your life companion.

Aunt Karen was my godmother, she was kind, giving, caring, generous, beautiful, and she had a great sense of humor. As soon as she walked into the room everyone would immediately light up. She always made me laugh especially when she was picking on my mom, her best friend. She was loved by so many people. I'm so glad that she was in my life! I miss her so much! I couldn't stop thinking about her since sunday night. My heart aches for you Dave, Geri, Kim, and family.

Karen was kind and gentle, caring and giving, fun-loving and personable. She loved teaching, was devoted to her work, and took her job very seriously but not so much so that she couldn?t let down her hair and be silly. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was a merciless tease. I teach morning classes and she taught afternoon classes. Very often I?d pass her as she was coming in and I was going out and because I?m older she would ask me if I?m going home to take my afternoon nap. I loved her as a friend and colleague and will miss her presence deeply.

Dave,
Karen was more than my best friend, she was my hero. She was always there for me. I admired her strength and determination. I know that I could never find another friend like her.
She loved her dogs and I was tickled when she said I could be Gretchen's Godmother. I also remember how she loved and cared for Chrissy. I am truly blessed to have known her and honored she considered me a friend.
Dave you are in my thoughts as well and hope you find comfort in knowing how much she loved you.

David, Clint, Amy, Geri and Family,
I SAID A PRAYER FOR YOU TODAY
I said a prayer for you today
And know God must have heard;
I felt the answer in my heart
Although He spoke not a word.
I didn't ask for wealth or fame
I knew you wouldn't mind;
I asked for priceless treasures rare
Of a more lasting kind.
I prayed that He'd be near to you
At the start of each new day,
To grant you health and blessings fair,
And friends to share your way.
I asked for happiness for you
In all things great and small,
But that you'd know His loving care
I prayed the most of all.
