Tim ?
I stood over you in the funeral home and wondered what your last thoughts were. Probably of Peggy and your children, your sister and brothers, various scenes from the good life you had. Maybe some flashes of color blue and gold from our great championship football season in the autumn of 1971. Just that phrase, ?autumn of 1971?, has taken on a sort of legendary status in my mind. I haven?t seen the game films in over 25 years, but I remember those flickering 8mm images of your injured self on the sidelines at the Audubon game, hobbling along with the plays, shouting and waving your crutch in the air. The next week you soaked your cast off against doctor?s orders so you could play in the Haddonfield game. We were victorious there, too.
How many of the seniors from that team remain? There weren?t many to begin with, only nine, I think. Now six of us are left by my count: Toth, Horan, Shaw, Dalessandro, Courter, and me, and I don?t think any of us are left in Woodbury.
I?ve hardly seen you at all in the past 32 years, but I realized that I had this idea that someday I would end up back in Woodbury and maybe we would get together once in awhile with a few old classmates and play some golf. It seems, however, that you have departed early for the undiscovered country.
Tim, I have to say it was highly inconsiderate of you to go away before I could say hi to you again, highly inconsiderate.
Rest in peace.
"When one man dies, one chapter is not torn out of the book, but translated into a better language; and every chapter must be so translated; God employs several translators; some pieces are translated by age, some by sickness, some by war, some by justice; but God's hand is in every translation, and his hand shall bind up all our scattered leaves again for that library where every book shall lie open to one another..."

Dear Mrs. Gale,
You don't know me but I wanted to share with you my sincere condolances in the loss of your husband. My name is Terry Oxley.
I met your best friend in the grief card section in a Hallmark store. Ask her and she will tell you. I am sorry I can't remember her name. SHe has blonde hair and works with you.
It is not in my nature to sign a guestbook with whom I do not know the people, however, I feel compelled to do so at this time.
I did attend Woodbury High and knew of the Gale family's popularity in sports. Just now reading your guestbook...I see that your husband worked at Chambers Works in Deepwater. My husband also worked there as the security supervisor for 30 years, so perhaps your husband knew of mine. His name is Bill Oxley.
I lost my husband two years ago on August 13, 2002.
Your friend is very sweet and cares alot about you. She will be your biggest support person and wants to be there for you always.
Again, I am very sorry for your loss and just know that I truly understand what you are going through and my thoughts and prayers are with you now. Unfortunatley I have experienced the loss of two friends....hence why I am in this site right now....signing thier guestbook also.
If you would like to talk...my e-mail is attached.
Take care,
God Bless,
Terri

Tim,I first met you from opposite sides on the football field. My first feelings were og great respect for your dedication as a coach, and hard work as a man. I later crossed to your side of the field, and developed a true friendship. You were a fun, hard working and very caring person, who loved his town, your players, your friends, and worshipped your family.I'm a much better person for knowing Tim Gale. It was a true honor to be a part of his Woodbury Steelers. You will never be gone in my heart.
Peggy & family, God bless you everyday, you are the best. MY thoughts and prayers will always be with you. Fran Simpson

To Tim's family,
I was fortunate to have shared with Tim his last two days here at work, Thursday, the 26th and Fri, the 27th.
We were having a customer audit which was focused in Tim's area. I introduced him to the auditor as our "Man of the Hour" and Tim gave us a pleasant smile. We talked many times during those 2 days.
On Friday on his way home, he stucked his head into my office and said "How did it the audit go?". I said "Very well" and "Thanks. Good job!". Again he smiled and added. "You know that "Clean" label you asked me about? I just beat you guys in there by 5 minutes! I had it all along but did not put it up. Thanks for the warning!". And he laughed.
I'd like to remember Tim the way he smiled and laughed on that last day.
My prayers and thoughts are with you all. He will be missed by many.

Our sympathy and love go out to you, Peggy, Stephanie and Matt. After working with Peggy for almost 15 years and meeting Tim on numerous occasions, I honestly feel I do not know two more genuine, sincere and thoughtful individuals. May it help you to know our thoughts are with you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Mrs. Gale and Family,
I had the pleasure of being coached by Tim during my earlier days in Woodbury. Tim was not only a coach, role model, and mentor, but more importantly a friend. He always wanted the best for everyone, but you had to work for it. Those values which Tim instilled in many young people travel a lifetime. It is those values that I learned from Tim that
I have followed through my professional career.
With a heavy heart, my prayers are with you and your family,
My Deepest Sympathy

I had the pleasure & honor of being a part of the Woodbury Steelers organization when it was at it's best. Timmy & Bruce were such an inspiration to me, they were these 2 strong men who loved their families, Woodbury football & us kids as much as any 2 men could. The 2 of them laughing together was something I've remembered all of these years- it was genuine laughter, the kind that's contagious. It warms my heart to know that the 2 of them are together again. To Timmy's family, you were truly blessed to have such an incredible husband & father- his love is what will get you through this tough time. I wish you all peace & love. God bless you.
Fondly,
Anne Thompson

Dear Tim, I refuse to believe you are gone, because you are not. In touching so many lives with your fine deeds and with the example you set will shine on through many that are still here. What an honor it is to be your brother and to have grown up and older alongside such a winner. Thanks for being so strong, kind, and understanding in helping Mom through her final struggles. Mom and Dad will be full with happiness, welcoming you "Home".
HOME
Home on a kite we fly,
Home on a breeze we blow
Eyeing the folks below and
Watching everybody run,
Each one heading for a different place
Watching everybody hide,
Each behind a different face
Home where the days are long
Back where the people are free,
Home where all sides agree and,
Everybody has a friend, oh
And no one ever has to grab
Everybody shares the love,
Giving everything they have.
Forever forever your lamp will burn
Forever home forever would that you'd learn
That you came with nothing
So with nothing you'll return
Home
You know you're not alone
It's only 'cause you're not a home
That you feel so out of place.
Forever forever your lamp will burn
Forever home forever would that you'd learn
That you came with nothing
So with nothing you'll return
Home where all the mums can sing,
Back where the children don't cry,
Home where you never ask why and
Everybody has enough, and y'don't have to put on clothes
Nobody has to hide 'cause everyone already knows.
Tim.
Welcome home.
Forever, your lamp will burn.
Until we meet again. . .
Love,
Michael

Tim, The fondest memories of my life are the 7 years you and Bruce allowed me to be the voice of the Steelers. You showed everyone how to do it right. More then a thousand kids were fortunate enough to have been coached by you. I will never forget you. Peg, God BLess. You are the best.

Peg and Family,
I had the pleasure of working with Tim for 8 years while we were both at Chambers Works. I always greatly admired Tim's strong commitment to his family and community - he obviously had his priorities straight. While we need more like him in our world, those that he touched are better for it. God bless.

"Class shows." That's what you told your first group of Steelers in 1973 and that is how you lived your life. Those two words and the example you set have made us all better men than we might otherwise have been.

Tim,
While the miles and the years have kept us apart, the friendship and love has and always will be there. We have some great memories of high school, our weddings, our families and our friends. We always admired your dedication to coaching and the thousands of young lives you touched. Those lives are better because of you. While our love and sympathy goes out to Peg, Stephanie, Matthew and your entire family, we must realize that there is a greater plan at work here.
You will always be our Best Man!
