Obituary of Herman Silverman

Herman Silverman, 93 Retired Sewing Machine Operator Herman Silverman, aged 93 years, was in declining health for the last year and died on Sunday morning, February 22nd at his home in Cardinal Village, Washington Township, in Sewell. He was born in Lvov, Poland and was a Soldier and Chauffeur in the Russian Army during World War II. Mr. Silverman resided in Vineland for more than 25 years before moving to Boca Raton, FL, and then returning to this area to be closer to his family. He was a devoted father and grandfather and loved cooking his famous Polish homemade specialties for them. He enjoyed playing poker and Gin Rummy in Vineland and Florida. He was a retired sewing machine operator at a Clothing Factory in Vineland and belonged to the United Amalgamated Clothing Workers Union of America. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Ronald Kruysman of Millville; his son and daughter-in-law Harry and Sharon Silverman of Ocean; his granddaughter and husband, Shana and Joe Grassi, and great-granddaughter, Cecillia Christine; his grandsons Kevin and Michael Silverman; as well as his sister Clara Rosenfeld in Israel, his niece Donna and her family in Connecticut, his nephew, Yechiel and his family in California. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Blanche, just 2 years earlier. Most of his family, including his parents and grandparents, 6 brother and sisters and their families, were killed by the Nazis in WW II.
