I will always remember his fun-loving spirit and the way he always made you feel comfortable around him. I am forever grateful that he welcomed me into his world. He will be dearly missed, but I know that he is on an ocean sailing with the breeze. Love, Karen

Thanks so much for everyone's heartfelt condolences, prayers and support. It is so appreciated. The one thing most important to my father-in-law, the king of the Rube Goldberg, was his family. I was lucky enough to be welcomed into his family with open arms as another one of his kiddies. His love of family and boating brought my two families together. I was so blessed to have 30 years of special memories with him. My fondest, of course, were down on the Sassafras River at our special spot, Daffodil Island. I will always remember Herb heading out in the gamefisher to collect fire wood for another bonfire and then coming back for his nap on the front deck of the the houseboat at peace and happy surrounded by the water and his family. May he be at peace now and know that he will always be remembered with a smile by all who knew him!
With all of my love,
Debbie

Pop,
You set sail on a journey to heaven and with the Lord as your co-pilot, you had no need for a compass or charts. The first thing you ever taught me was red, right, returning and now you have returned home. I love and will miss you so much. Until we meet again, keep an eye out for a good woody,I'll bring the "get rot," and we'll sail her together.
All of my love,
Don
P.S. I'll take the cold iron watch

Thank you to everyone who has given us their love and support during this profoundly sad time for our family. My dad was the kindest person I know. He loved life and his family. I remember going from boat yard to boat yard as a kid looking at old wooden boats that smelled from mildew. He would see potential in even the most run down ones. I remember the last time we went to Disney with him and Mom I begged him to ride the Tower of Terror with me. He did reluctantly and afterwards he sure was shakey but because I asked, he did it again. My dad's passing has left a void in my life that no one will ever be able to fill. I know he is on the beach, in peace, sailing into the sunset. I love you Dad - thanks for making me the person I am today.

To all the wonderful friends of my family. Thank you for all the hearthfelt sympathy. My father was a wonderful man and touched us all in such a profound way. He got everything out of life. My absolute favorite time spent with him was early in the morning, just the two of us sharing a warm cup of coffee or tea and him gazing out the window thinking of all the great possibilities that day had in store for us. I can't help but think of a special saying... I AM THIRD...My Lord is First, My Family and Friends come Second and I AM THIRD. My dad lived this each and every day and I am going to miss him so very much. God bless you!

I am so sorry. Through Deb, I knew Charles and he was always the kindest and nicest man. I loved talking to him about Fred, Clancy, and later Charles, the stock market, and the latest political issue. He was the best and I will miss him.
Please accept my condolences
