Obituary of John Ocheske, Jr.
John Ocheske, of Deptford, New Jersey, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2020. He was 56.
Legacy
Born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, John enlisted in the US Coast Guard immediately following high school, where he was trained as an electrician. His time in the Coast Guard led him to Governor’s Island in New York and Gloucester City, New Jersey. Following his service, John settled in West Deptford, New Jersey, and began his electrical business, Ocheske Electric, which he owned and operated for over 20 years.
John spent his life as an avid fan of baseball, hockey, and football, particularly supporting teams from Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and his hometown of Johnstown. Later in life, he collected, repaired, and showed off classic cars both big and small, with a particular interest in Mustangs. John was enthusiastic about comic books and superhero memorabilia, amassing an impressive collection over the course of his life. In addition, John enjoyed spending time in Ocean City, Maryland.
John was a thoughtful man who was very kind-hearted, pleasant, and easy to talk with. He was very resourceful with what he had on hand, often creating and building things to benefit his day-to-day life and his friends and family. Most importantly, John was a big supporter of his daughter, Jamie, in her endeavors.
Family
John is the beloved father of Jamie Ocheske and her companion Maximilian Pozza; and dear brother of Joseph and James Ocheske. John is preceded in death by his parents, John Ocheske, Sr. and Juanita Ocheske (Chavez).
Farewell Tribute
Relatives and friends are invited to attend John's visitation on Tuesday after 10:00AM in the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury, where his Funeral Ceremony will follow at 11 AM. Ennichement with Military Honors will follow in the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Tuckahoe Road, Williamstown.
