Obituary of John J. Avis

AVIS?John J., Sr. of Mercerville formerly of Woodbury on Dec. 21, 2002. Aged 81 years. Prior to retirement, Mr. Avis worked as a welder for General Engines, Thorofare for 20 years and most recently with the Acme in Mercerville, NJ. He was a US Army-Airforce veteran of WWII. An accomplished saxaphone player, Mr. Avis played in the Army-Airforce band and was a member of Quaker City, Polish American, Ferko, Broomall, Garden State, Gloucester City Old Timers and Overbrook String Bands. Beloved husband of the late Mary nee-Soha devoted father of Mary Gaskill & John Avis, Jr., loving grandfather of Heather & Robert. Viewing Sat 10:30-11:30 AM in the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter St., Woodbury. Funeral Service Saturday 11:30 AM in the funeral home. Interment will be private.
