Obituary of Anna E. Mead

Anna E. Mead, 81, of Page Manor, Athens, Pa., went to join her loved ones on 12/13/02. She was the widow of Howard H. Mead, her beloved husband for 5712 years. Anna was the first child of William J. Engle, Sr. and Katherine Engle nee Fees, born in Sharon Springs, NY, May 31, 1921. Her siblings are William J. Engle, Jr. of Pennsylvania and Marjorie D. Engle deceased March 7, 2002. Anna's children are Katherine Marie Stinsman deceased January 5, 1982, Howard J. Mead of New Jersey, Donna Morgan of Pennsylvania, and Sara King Smith and David J. Mead of New York. The Meads had 10 grandchildren; Dawn, Lori Amy and Scott, children of Katherine; Joshua, son of Howard; Eric, Heather and Kyle, children of Sara; and Jennifer and Sean, children of David. They also had six great-grandchildren: Leslie and Paul, children of Dawn; Lindsey and Jacklyn, children of Lori; and Rachel deceased and Kaitlin, children of Amy. Anna is also survived by beloved sons-in-law, John D. Stinsman of New Jersey and Charles L. Morgan of Pennsylvania, and daughter-in-law Elaine Mead of New Jersey. Anna was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sayre, the Athens Senior Citizens Club, and the Widows Persons Service of the Valley. She was a most ambitious lady, until her recent illness with pulmonary fibrosis, having been involved with more than a dozen volunteer organizations. She loved reading and studying the Bible, and was active with her Sunday School class. Her life verse was Galatians 6:2. Viewing Mon. 7-9 p.m. in the MCGUINNESS FUNERAL HOME, 34 Hunter St., Woodbury.
