Obituary of John A. Sturgis

Sturgis, John A. M.D., " Jack" Gloucester County General Practice Physician , passed away on Nov. 12, 2002. Dr. Sturgis maintained an office in Woodbury for over 40 years before retiring in l995. He was 73 years of age. He was a native Philadelphian graduating from West Philadelphia Catholic High School, St. Joseph's College, and Temple University's Medical School. Dr. Sturgis served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. Dr. Sturgis' patients referred to him as a gentle giant who as a doctor was kind, proficient and a brilliant diagnostician. Beloved husband of Patricia Nee Cassidy. Devoted father of Regina Sturgis-Lewis, MSN, RN and her husband G. Edward, John D., Thomas M. M.D., and his wife , Nancy, Katherine Sturgis-Robinson, RN and her husband Robert J., Ann Sturgis Atkinson, O.D. and her husband John P. , Grandfather of 11, brother of Joseph B. Sturgis. Viewing FridayEve 6:00 to 9 PM and on Saturday 8 AM to 9:15 AM in the McGuinness Funeral Home 34 Hunter St., Woodbury. Funeral Mass 10 AM in St. Patrick R. C. Church.
