Helen Kelly

Obituary of Helen Johanna Kelly

Helen Johanna Kelly, of Woodbury, New Jersey, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2020.  She was 79.

Legacy

Helen Passed peacefully in her sleep on March 8th. Having been diagnosed at the age of 13 with Multiple Sclerosis, Helen never let it slow her down and instead used humor rather than self pity to deal with her limitations.

Growing up in Philadelphia, Helen attended Olney High School and even danced on American Bandstand. She had a terrific group of friends that stayed connected through all of the life changes they experienced.

Helen worked for PanAm which provided her the opportunity to see the world as a young adult. Later, after marrying her beloved husband Ed and having two children, the family settled in Woodbury Heights, New Jersey, where Helen took on the job of staying home to take care of her family.

While the children were young, the family relocated to the Philippines for several years further fueling her desire to see the world. While there, Helen spent her free time traveling and even wrote a successful article for the local newsletter called “Helpful Hints from Helen.” A few years after their return to New Jersey, and once their daughters graduated from high school, Helen and Ed moved to Florida to enjoy their golden years in the warm sunshine.

Unfortunately, due to health reasons, Ed and Helen relocated back to New Jersey to be closer to family and to spend their final years at the Woodbury MEWS. Helen had a zest for life and always had a way of making people feel at ease in her presence. With all she had to deal with physically, she could always make people laugh and enjoy being around her.

She will be missed by so many but is now peacefully walking along a beautiful beach with Ed who has been waiting patiently for her in heaven.
