Obituary of Edward A Nowak
Edward A Nowak, a 52 year resident of Westville, New Jersey, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2020. He was 92.
Legacy
Edward will be remembered most for his devotion to his family. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Villanova Men's Basketball. In his youth, Edward had some experience playing minor league baseball. Ed was also an accomplished bowler, winning multiple league high average and team championship awards. He continued to bowl until age 91.
Edward began his working career at the National Paper Box Company in Philadelphia where he worked as a Diemaker. This is where he would meet his wife, Catherine. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1950 as part of the 45th Division where he was a Sergeant of the Heavy Mortar Shell Regiment during the Korean War. While on leave, he married Catherine and took a short honeymoon in Atlantic City, New Jersey prior to returning to active duty. When he returned home in 1952, he returned to work at the National Paper Box Company where he continued to work until his retirement in 1994. After retirement, he worked as an usher for the Phillies from 2001-2007.
Family
He is the beloved husband of the late Catherine "Mickey" (nee Murphy) Nowak; devoted father of Kathleen Jeffries (John Hallinan) and Edward W. Nowak (Alice); cherished grandfather to Jennifer (Brandon), Bobby, Katie (Cole), Denise, Ed (Caitlin), Meghan (Stephen); loving great grandfather to Aubrey, Haley, Cassie, Caden and Hannah; dear brother to Dorothy Daly. He is also survived by many loving extended family members.
Edward is predeceased by his parents Anthony and Mary (nee Matka) Nowak, his sister Martha Nichols and Walter Mika.
