Obituary of John F Vettese
John F Vettese, of Coudersport, Pennsylvania, formerly of National Park, New Jersey, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2020. He was 93.
Legacy
John was born and raised in Camden, NJ to Angelo and Lina Vettese. He joined the United States Army in 1943 and proudly served our Country during World War II in 2 Theaters of Operation in both Germany and the Philippines. Upon returning home, John met the love of his life, Irene, at a Woolworth's in Camden. They married on August 9, 1958 in Brooklawn, NJ and began their life together growing their family.
Family vacations were spent traveling to the mountains in Pennsylvania. John and Irene would eventually take up permanent residence among the mountains of Pennsylvania.
John enjoyed watching old western movies, snacking on gum drops and caramels, and washing it down with Pepsi. John's mornings consisted of playing a game of Solitare at the kitchen table. He could often be found tinkering with something in the shed, or enjoying a day on the ocean deep sea fishing or crabbing with his family.
He was a simple man that spoke few words but had a big heart. John loved all of his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Though he rarely said "I love you", his love was felt by all. He will be sorely missed by many.
Family
He is the beloved husband of 62 years to Irene Vettese (nee Moeller); devoted father of John and his wife Denise, Angelo, Robert, Theresa, Vickie Jo, Nicholas, Susan and her husband Fran, Irene, Jeanette and her husband Chuck, Dolly and her husband Jimmy and Andy; dear brother to Gloria and her husband Felix; loving grandfather to 30 grandchildren; cherished great grandfather to 37 and great great grandfather to 6. John is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.
John is predeceased in death by his parents Angelo and Lina Vettese and his sisters Vicky, Rita, Susie and Theresa.
Farewell Tribute
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside Committal Service for John on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro, NJ at 12:00 PM. CDC and State of New Jersey guidelines are in effect. Masks or face coverings will be required.
