Obituary of Kathleen Vattima
Kathleen Marie “Kate” Vattima (nee Malvey) passed away Thursday, July 23, 2020 at her home in Washington Township, NJ.
Kate was born on May 12, 1952 in Fishtown, Philadelphia, PA to Francis “Frank” and Mary (nee McVey) Malvey. She was a graduate of John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls High School and later attained levels of advanced learning in Computer Science. Among her many jobs, Kate was a dedicated employee for GlaxoSmithKline and Independence Blue Cross.
Kate was the beloved wife, of 34 years, to Michael Vattima and loving and devoted mother of Eric T. Miller and Mark W. Miller and step-sons Michael A.(Beatrice) Vattima and Scott J. Vattima.
Kate cherished her dear grandchildren Angelique, Eric and Sophia.
Kate is also survived by her sisters Rosemary Malvey (Ken King), Marianne Yeager, Maureen O’Connor and her brothers Dennis Malvey and Martin (Joanne) Malvey. Kate was preceded in death by her loving brother and sister-in-law Paul and Lynda (nee Budman) Malvey. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Kate loved her faithful dog Maggie, going to the beach in Sea Isle, curling up with a good book, and listening to her favorite music. Kate could be delightfully feisty and irreverent and will always be remembered for her gentle nature, infectious laugh, upbeat personality, and welcoming smile.
Kate will be forever missed.
Per Kate’s wishes, memorial services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, Kate was an advocate of the non-profit organization Women Against Abuse.
