Obituary of Richard J. Wood

Legacy

Richard J. Wood made his final journey into God’s loving arms on Saturday, September 12, 2020.  A strong, self-made man, Rich was dedicated to his family.  After a long day on the construction site, you would often find him on the softball or soccer field coaching one of his daughters’ teams. His cherished wife, Mary Jane keeping him calm.  His Thanksgiving feasts were only slightly overshadowed by the Christmas parties packed with family and friends.  Summers were spent cheering on the Phillies and enjoying 4^th of July celebrations at the Lake.  His eyes lit up every time one of his grandchildren came into the room.   Autism fundraisers, gymnastics, cheer, soccer, football, baseball, dance recitals, plays or whatever the event, he was proudly supporting the cause, in the audience or on the sidelines beaming with pride.  Hand in hand with his devoted wife Mary Jane of 54 years, he embraced life.  He was a provider, protector and guardian of his family. 

Family

Son of the late Ernest and Marie (nee McDonald) Wood, he is the beloved husband to Mary Jane Wood (nee McCleery); devoted father to Lisa Borner (Joseph), Suzanne Fetzer (Lance), Stacey Pomroy (David) and Marie Wood; dear brother to the late Ernie (Pat), Diane McCool (Tom), the late David (Colleen), the late Eddie (Mary Jane), Linda Andrews (Nick Metteo), Jimmy (Claudia) and Johnny (Liz); loving grandfather to Samantha, David, Morgan, Katelyn, Matthew, Keri, Rachel, Lauren, Nicholas and Mackenzie; cherished great-grandfather to Dakota, Chase and Harley.  Rich is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and all the Mo’s out there.

Farewell Tribute

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Saturday, September 19, 2020 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm in the McGuinness Funeral Home - Woodbury, 34 Hunter Street.  A Funeral Ceremony will be held at the funeral home at 12:00 pm.  Interment to follow at Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro.
