Obituary of George F. Rumaker, Sr.
George F. Rumaker, Sr, 92, of Westville, New Jersey, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2020.
Legacy
A loving and generous gentleman, George was devoted to his family and nothing was more important than time spent with them. He was very handy and was always willing to lend a helping hand. With his military background, he was tough but fair and everyone knew where they stood with him. George loved to root for the Philadelphia sports teams and Villanova basketball and coin collecting, but his favorite pastime was walking the local areas with his walking companion, Lady Samantha.
Born in Philadelphia, PA George was raised in National Park and was a resident of Westville for over 60 years. At the age of 17, George joined the United States Navy, proudly served his country and retired after 20 years of service as a Senior Chief. After his military career, George was a pipe fitter for the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard and retired in 1984.
Family
Beloved husband of the late, Reba May (nee Hatton); devoted father of Stephen T. (Nancy), Anne L. (Bob) and the late George F., Jr.; father in law of Rose; cherished grandfather of Lauren, Jason, Sam, Melissa, Sara, Jackie, Rick, Nichole, Daniel, Jennifer and Joseph; great grandfather of 22 and great great grandfather of 3; dear brother of William, Paul, David and the late Mary, Joseph, Robert, John and Michael. loving uncle of many loving nieces and nephews and, grand nieces and nephews. George is also survived by his furry canine and walking companion, Lady Samantha.
Farewell Tribute
Relatives and friends are invited to attend George's viewing on Tuesday evening, 6:30 - 9:00 PM and Wednesday morning 8:30 - 9:30 AM at the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter Street Woodbury, NJ 08096. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 AM at Holy Angel's Parish at St. Matthew's RC Church, 4th and Monument Avenue, National Park, NJ. Interment at New Saint Mary's Cemetery, Bellmawr, NJ. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, PO Box 96011, Washington DC 20090 or at alz.org.
