Obituary of Richard T. Lord
Richard T. Lord, 62, of Turnersville, New Jersey, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.
Legacy
A strong willed man, Richard was always putting others needs before his own. He was dedicated to his family and the firehouse. If Richard wasn’t with his family, everyone knew where to find him…at the firehouse. In his spare time, Richard also enjoyed military and James Bond movies.
Born Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Richard was a resident of Collingswood and recently a resident of Turnersville for over 50 years. Prior to retiring, Richard was a Merchant Seaman for OSG America working on barges and tugs in the Delaware River. He was an active Volunteer Fire Fighter and Life Member for Grenloch Battalion of Washington Township Fire Department and at the time of his death, Richard was the longest active member of Washington Township Department. He served as Lieutenant, Vice President and most recently the Safety Officer.
Family
Beloved husband of 40 years to Lorraine (nee Santarcangelo); loving father of Kenneth (Heather) and James; devoted son of Franklyn and the late Grace (nee Young); dear brother of Douglas (Cindy) Lord, Steven Lord, Carl (Jackie) Lord and Franklin (Susan) Lord. Richard is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Farewell Tribute
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Richard’s viewing on Friday, 6:00 – 9:00 PM and Saturday, 9:00 – 11:00 AM at the McGuinness Funeral Home, 573 Egg Harbor Road, Sewell, NJ 08080. The Funeral Ceremony will be held on Saturday, 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home. After the Ceremony, Richard will take his last ride on Engine 1012 to the Grenloch Fire Company for last call.
