Mary Kay, Lauren, Johnny and the entire Montague family. I am heart broken I didn’t know about John’s passing and didn’t attend his service. Ironically while sitting with Ray at GCHS Golf tournament I found out. I couldn’t believe he passed. John was a great friend and a mentor to a lot of people. Baseball, basketball, golf and life in general. May God bless you all. My thoughts and prayers are with you. George R Plum

May you find comfort in God’s promise at Revelation 21:3,4. “God himself will be with them.
And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning
nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things has passed away.”

John was my golf coach senior year at Gloucester Catholic. John was just about five years older than us, so he was as much a big brother as a coach. He was so cool, we just wanted to be like him. He was very encouraging to me then and later as I progressed in golf.

To Mary K, Lauren & Johnny - So very sorry for your loss! I’ve not been in touch w/John since before 2016 when we moved to MD; shocking to learn he passed at only 65. Joyce & I are praying for you all. One of my favorite Bible passages is found in Philip 4:6-8; pray that you can experience the Peace of God’s presence.
With God’s Love, Greg & Joyce

Dear Mary Kay, Lauren & Johnny. I am not sure if this is a repeat message, I think I messed up the first one. Just wanted to say that I am very sorry to hear about John's passing. He was a good friend while we were together at Fairton and he was a really good person in my eyes, no matter what the circumstances of his life may have led him through. I know from conversations that he absolutely idolized you guys and was so proud of you. His actions while at Fairton were those of someone who truly cared about others, he would go out of his way to help out anyone new coming in and was always willing to lend a hand or an ear to anyone that needed it. This is why I am absolutely certain that Our Blessed Mother was waiting for him when he passed, ready to dispel, with a single smile, anything that may have been a blemish in his life and take him with her to be with Her Son. I won't be able to attend the viewing or funeral but please be assured of my prayers for all of you and that I will be with you and John in heart and spirit.
In JMJ, I remain,
Pancho Illarramendi.

I am so sorry to hear this sad news. My sincere condolences go to John's family and friends. John hired me in the Insurance business 36 years ago and started me on my career path, but more than that, we stayed good friends over that period of time. We always had a good time discussing sports, playing sports together, and generally having a great time wherever we ventured to. He was a great guy and he will be sorely missed.

Some of my best baseball moments come from playing baseball in WD and having John as a coach. He dedicated countless hours of his personal time to spend with us and I will never forget that. Super supportive and was a great guy. Rest easy Coach Montague, you will be missed.

Montague Family,
Beverly and I are saddened to hear of your loss and will keep you in our thoughts and prayers as you grieve.
Johnny is now back being comforted by the best hands in heaven, those of his father Ray. I can personally attest to the magic he possessed as he could touch you and make your pain seem to go away. He got me and scores of team mates back onto the fields and courts with his healing touch.
I remember fondly our times together back in the days at GC and the years that followed as many of our lives intersected in the business world. The Montague's are a strong and proud family and together you will heal and continue forward in his memory.
May god bless all of you and John rest in eternal peace.
Sadly,
Steve & Beverly Johnson
