Obituary of Alfredina "Dina" Basile

Alfredina “Dina” Basile, 84, of Woodbury Heights, New Jersey, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2020. 

 Legacy

Born and raised in Foggia, Italy, Dina came to the United States in 1961 and settled in Philadelphia, PA.  She moved to Woodbury Heights, NJ 15 years ago and became a very active member of St. Margaret's Church.  She was a member of their Women's Group and enjoyed many of the social events, especially the casino trips where she tried her luck at the penny slots.

A loving and generous person, Dina had a wonderful way of making everyone feel special and fussing over them and she loved being fussed over too.  She had a passion for sewing, loved listening and dancing to music, and really enjoyed playing cards.  But her greatest joy in life was a being a Mom and Nonna and she was devoted to them all.  Among all of the things that Dina liked to do, her passion was cooking and chatting.  If she was born fifty years later, you could bet that Dina would have her own cooking show.  She was a superb cook and all of her Italian recipes were from the heart...a little bit of this and little bit of that.  Many treasured memories were created over the making of these fine meals with her family and friends. 

Family

Loving daughter of the late Matteo Contessa and Assunta (Soccio), beloved wife of the late Corradino Basile; devoted mother of Anna Southern (Joe),  Alfonso Basile (Marlene), Assunta Bonanno (Bruno), Vincent Basile and Dina Ricci (Americo); cherished grandmother of Tina (Ed), Jonathan (Rebekah), Molly, Alexandra, Allison, (Roy), Vincent, Alyssa, Alec, Blaise, Bruno, Joseph, Michele and great grandmother of Logan, Carter, Sienna, Cole, Ansley and Braxton; survived by a dear sister Maria Contessa (Boccuzzi) and many loving nieces and nephews in Italy. Dina was predeceased by her long time companion Antonio Stellabotte and 8 siblings.

Farewell Tribute

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Dina’s viewing on Friday, 8:00 - 9:30 AM at the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury, NJ  08096.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM at Infant Jesus Parish at St. Margaret's, Third and Beech Street, Woodbury Heights, NJ.  Interment at New St. Mary's Cemetery, Bellmawr, NJ.
