Obituary of Harry Thomas Risley
Harry Risley “Tom”, 78, of Deptford passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021 at Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill, NJ.
LEGACY
Tom was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was a proud Marine and was active in the Semper Fidelis Marine Corps League Detachment in Wenonah, NJ, previously holding the position of Commandant. He volunteered his time to Toys for Tots and Rose program, as well as participating in the honor guard. Tom was also active in the New Jersey Marine Corps League 10th District, previously serving as Commandant, Vice Commandant, and Chaplain. Through the years, Tom won several awards including “Marine of the Year” and the “Gunny Timmons Award” for his volunteer service.
Tom spent the majority of his career working as a health and beauty aid merchandiser. His unique sense of humor was remembered by all and he enjoyed making others laugh. During the Christmas season, Tom took great pride in setting up an elaborate train display and decorating the lawn with various inflatables. His favorite pastime was relaxing in front of the television with his beloved wife, Terry, rooting for the Philadelphia Eagles and watching history-related shows on television.
FAMILY
Tom is predeceased by his wife of 33 years, Terry Risley. Loving father of Martha Dewey (Chet), Michael Risley (Kelli), Tricia Risley, Jennifer Clark (Dave), Steven Risley (Dayana), and Debbie Risley-Wuchter. Step-father to Theresa Quigley (Kevin), Lisa McClintock (Jesse), and Michelle Sampson (Sean). Adored grandfather of 26 and great-grandfather to 2. Son of the late Horace (“Bud”) Risley and Iva (“Ruth”) Risley. Dear brother of Bill Risley (Carol) and the late Horace (“Skip”)Risley (Kathryn). He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
FAREWELL CEREMONY
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Tom’s viewing Monday evening 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Tuesday morning 10:00-11:00 AM in the McGUINNESS FUNERAL HOME, 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury, Interment with Military Honors will follow in Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 240 S. Tuckahoe Road, Williamstown, NJ
