Obituary of Merton Briggs

Merton Briggs, a resident of Turnersville, New Jersey, passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021.  He was 88.

 Legacy
A hardworking man that was always keeping busy, Merton's intelligence and creativeness led him to becoming an engineer where he could keep his creative mind at work.  Merton's career allowed him to travel all over the country for work where he would design the plants for his company.  One of his most proud moments was the design and engineer of the machine for the  base cup for plastic Coke bottles. 

Away from work, Merton was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to opera music.  He was a Philadelphia sports teams fan and liked watching documentary shows and films on tv.  

Family
He is the beloved husband of 54 years to Patricia (nee Riffitts); devoted father of Matthew Briggs, Michael Briggs (Danielle), Martin Briggs and Monica Rushing; dear brother of the late Milton Briggs; loving grandfather to Tyler, Madison, Hunter, Grace and MichaelAnn; cherished great grandfather to Tonya.  Merton is also survived by extended family and friends.  
 
Farewell Tribute
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation at 9:00am on Monday, July 19, 2021 in the McGuinness Funeal Home, 573 Egg Harbor Road, Sewell, NJ 08080.  A Funeral Ceremony will be held at the funeral home at 11:00am.  Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Chews Landing.
