Obituary of John T. Misinkavitch

John Misinkavitch of Woodbury Heights, NJ, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2021. He was the loving husband to his wife Lee Misinkavitch for 14 years, and the son of John and Margaret Misinkavitch.  John was the husband to the late Joanne Misinkavitch who passed away in 2002 and proud father of two daughters Natalie Misinkavitch of Tampa, FL and Sasha Schrode, wife of Lt. Col. Philip Schrode of Villanova, PA.  John is survived by his mother, Margaret Misinkavitch;  sister, Liz Gigante, wife of Tom Gigante; sister-in-law Linda Misinkavitch and five grandchildren.  He is predeceased by his father John Misinkavitch and brother Robert Misinkavitch who both passed away in 2020.

John was born in Philadelphia, PA and spent summers in Cape May, NJ for over 30 years.  The beach was his favorite place for relaxation and fishing.  He loved to read, watch movies and search and collect antiques.   He immersed himself in his favorite hobbies and was always excited to visit book stores wherever he traveled.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and loved taking them shopping in outdoor markets and comic book stores.  John was known for his fandom of the Philadelphia Eagles and enjoyed all of the famous South Philly foods from his childhood.  He was a computer engineer for over 30 years and spent many years traveling internationally.  While traveling abroad, he enjoyed eating the cuisine, learning the history and experiencing the local culture.  After being diagnosed with terminal cancer at the age of 68, John always chose to Think Positive and he leaves his family with cherished memories of his life.  He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him.

At the wishes of the deceased, a private gathering will be held for the family.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association in John's honor.
