Obituary of Wanda B DeVine
Wanda B. Devine, 58, of West Deptford, New Jersey.
Legacy
Wanda B. Devine, affectionately known as Wanda B., Buzz and Wawa, was born on October 11, 1962 to the late William and Mary Devine. She passed peacefully on Saturday, August 28th after courageously fighting her cancer for several months.
Wanda was a true light in this world. At an early age, she accepted Christ and was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Jericho. She graduated from West Deptford High School in 1981, where she was an outstanding athlete, lettering in basketball and softball, and running cross country. During her high school summers, she attended sports camps and played on summer softball leagues and worked at Wawa. After graduating from high school, Wanda entered the workforce and was employed in several different positions, including self-employment endeavors in masonry and handywoman services, until she was employed at Shady Lane and Underwood-Memorial Hospital as a Certified Nurse Aide. At Underwood, now Inspira Medical Center in Mullica Hill, she worked as a CNA and transporter for the GI Center, Heart Center and Radiology. During this time, she also became certified in phlebotomy and EKG and as a medical assistant. Her CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certificate allowed her to be assigned to 1:1 observations. Wanda’s smile was warm and contagious, and she was always able to make people smile and laugh! During the pandemic, Wanda’s resilience gave her the strength to create funny masks for she and her co-workers to continue to make people laugh! She was a loyal friend, a hard, conscientious worker and a caring, compassionate person who would give you the shirt off her back. She had a quiet strength, with a heart of gold, willing to help anyone in need. She enjoyed dancing, bowling, playing on several softball teams, doing arts and crafts, playing games and cards with her family, shopping at flea markets to buy watches and sneakers to match her outfits, and watching her favorite NFL football team, the Carolina Panthers.
Wanda is survived by her brothers, Donald Devine (Bonnie) and Solomon Devine (Judi), and her sister, Robin Russell, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, special friends Anita Evans and Judy Grelli, and her favorite furry friends, Diesel, Tootsie, Bella and Bentley. She is pre-deceased by her siblings, Loretta Watkins, William Devine, Jr., April Lindsley, and Zina Devine Tuttle. Before she was discharged from the hospital, Wanda’s Inspira family gathered around her to say goodbye. She was so happy about this! During her final hours, her closest family and friends were with her Donald, Bonnie, Kenny, Keshia, Anita, Joya, June, Dee, Cindy, Adrienne, Michele, and her newest furry friend, Phoebe.
The family also wishes to thank Angelic Hospice for their care and kindness.
