Obituary of Vincent B. Eckert, Jr.
Vincent B. Eckert, 85, of West Deptford, New Jersey, passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021.
Legacy
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Vince was a resident of West Deptford since 1967. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and Navy serving during the Korean War. Prior to retiring, Vince was owner and operator of Airflow, a commercial/residential heating, air conditioning and refrigeration company in Westville, NJ, alongside his former wife, Claire. He was an active member of the community. He was a member of the Westville Rotary Club, a volunteer fireman for the Union Fire Company No. 1, and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 133.
A strong and stoic gentleman, Vince was dedicated to his family, especially his girls, Cheryl and Sheila. Nothing made him more happy than to be with his family and friends, whether it be at a pool party in his backyard, holiday gatherings or annual vacations. The memories that were made during these times will be treasured. He loved to cook and some of his family’s favorites were his candied sweet potatoes at Thanksgiving and his ham and lima bean soup. Vince also loved technology. He spent countless hours working and playing on his computer and with his ever-growing collection of electronics and gadgets. Vince was a man of few words. Everyone knew where he/she stood with Vince; he always told you the way it was. He said what he meant and meant what he said. Vince was always the one to tell you what you needed to hear and not necessarily what you wanted to hear. On the flip side, Vince was a sweet, caring, and compassionate man, who was always there for you in your time of need. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Family
Devoted dad of Cheryl and her husband, Mark DeCaesar, and Sheila Eckert; dear brother of Ella M. (the late Ralph) Clapier and the late Gertrude V. Eckert; former husband of the late Claire R. Eckert; companion of many years to Diana Crudele. Vince was also survived by many nieces, nephews and his canine pal, Anchor.
